„Science is nothing but developed perception, interpreted intent, common sense rounded out
and minutely articulated.’ Keeping this in mind Podar International School, Ambegaon organized the
„ASTRONOMICAL SCIENCE EXHIBITION‟ on 15th of Feb, 2014 with the monumental contribution
of the students and staff members of the school within the school premises. The Principal Mrs
Anagha Gholap inaugurated the exhibition and appreciated the students understanding and
creativity of presenting their ideas in innovative ways. Blending both the events in the month of
February that is 28th Feb- our National Science Day and the school-wide theme „DESTINATION:
OUTER SPACE – An Intergalactic Adventure‟ in Integrated English school contrived the event.
This exhibition showcased fascinating facts about outer space and made the participants
experience the wonder, awe and thrill of the planets, moon, UFOs, aliens, and space travel. The
exhibition combined the student‟s creations with outside inputs to present a spectacle covering
various aspects of outer space. The various stalls exhibited there covered subjects starting from
basic planetary facts easily grasped by primary students to a more scientific understanding of
astronomical phenomena presented by the seniors.
The activities taken in the integrated period for the std 1 st to 8th helped the students to
learn about the concepts of outer space and astronomy which would have definitely widened their
horizons. At the exhibition students showcased their newfound knowledge and understanding of
outer space by making various special objects. These articles also were displayed
Parents, grandparents, relatives and friends were invited to experience and partake in this
unique ‘Astronomical Science Exhibition‟.
After viewing the exhibition the visitors and the
participants must have developed awareness about the cosmos which extends beyond our daily
existence and that the universe might have seemed slightly less esoteric.

not shine on only a few. So, just as nature is indifferent to our station or situation,
we need to know that we are all equal. We need to focus on the things that are
constant and not place our values on things that can be blown away with the next,
great, wind”. The show well brought out the different festivals celebrated all over
the world and the fact that all festivities bring Joy and happiness to the
surroundings.

th
This assembly on Galileo held on 14
February , 2014 by students of Std. VII-B
connected well with the theme Destination- Outer Space as Galileo was a renowned
astronomer, and is known as the "father of modern observational astronomy". His
achievements include improvements to the telescope and consequent astronomical
observations. Normally, we all think of Galileo as the inventor of the telescope, but it was
Hans Lippershey from the Netherlands who invented the telescope in 1608 to see far away
things on land. Galileo was a multi-faceted genius. He was a physicist, mathematician,
astronomer and philosopher. He played a major role in what we now consider modern
science. His works and achievements are among the most important in the history of
science. Galileo has been called the "Father of the Scientific Revolution".
Through the skit presentation, the students got an opportunity to explore the life
of Galileo Galilee.
Also it being Valentine‟s Day, the students were given information about Saint
Valentine and the fact that this day is celebrated to express love for all who are
close to us including our parents and grandparents. This helped in broadening the
vision of the students about this day which otherwise limits itself in its
understanding.

surprising and made spectators to think over it.
No doubt, during the panel discussions each group was firm on their
opinions and was able to prove their points efficiently. There where negative as
well as positive points in their discussion. The references and expeditions
regarding space programmes so far were put forward in a studious way by the both
groups.
