Spirent octoBox Shielded and Over-the-Air device testing Spirent octoBox is a small RF isolation chamber and portable anechoic (non-echoing) chamber that serves as the test bed for wireless testing in R&D, QA and production tests. Design is optimized for stable and repeatable Over-the-Air (OTA) or conducted testing of Cellular 2G/3G/LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS/GNSS devices. Spirent octoBox offers a robust architecture that makes it easy to place test equipment, mount devices under test (DUT) and connect high frequency instrumentation and test bed fixtures. Mounted on a base with casters, octoBox chambers can be stacked and effortlessly wheeled around the lab. Multiple devices or multiple radios in a DUT can be tested simultaneously via a stable OTA coupling inside the octoBox chambers. The octoBox is available in two sizes, dependent upon the application. There is a 26” (67cm) wide platform tailored for testing mobile devices and a 38” (97cm) wide platform for eNodeB radio unit or Wi-Fi access point testing. Why Spirent octoBox? Modern design – supports a wide frequency range from 700 MHz to 6 GHz and provides Applications a flexible antenna mounting system that can accommodate almost all mainstream wireless Mobile device design & testing tablets that now support 2G/3G/LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS radios in a single device, Multi-device testing making OTA coupling necessary. eNodeB radio unit testing (2G, 3G, LTE) Wi-Fi testing (802.11n, 802.11ac) devices. Spirent octoBox is ideal for testing multi-radio gadgets, such as smartphones and Stable & repeatable testing – supports repeatable and accurate OTA coupling by providing superior isolation, absorption and filtering of data and power lines entering the chamber. High isolation – novel patent-pending octoBox filters maintain high isolation while conducting GPS and GNSS conformance copper interfaces such as Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, USB, power, and other connections GCF/PTCRB conformance through the walls of the chamber to control and power the DUT. Spirent octoBox Shielded and Over-the-Air device testing Spirent differentiators Spirent solution built with the octoBox Spirent octoBox is a modern design specifically optimized for OTA Wi-Fi Automated Test System signal coupling inside. OTA coupling demands superior isolation and Spirent’s Wi-Fi Automated Test System (ATS) addresses the need for anechoic conditions for repeatable and accurate measurements. testing the data throughput performance of Wi-Fi-enabled devices. Unlike other shield box solutions, octoBox specifies isolation with data and power cables attached through the walls of the chamber. Thus, the octoBox isolation specification reflects the quality of the feedthrough filters that guide data and power cabling into the chamber. Wi-Fi ATS measures and characterizes end-to-end data application layer throughput via a realistic user experience representation and provides insight into device performance. Wi-Fi ATS integrates the Spirent octoBox and VR5 channel emulator to simulate a variety of realistic channel conditions that use MIMO configurations in a radiated environment.
