MARCH 2016
HORSE AND PEOPLE NEWS
There’s a slight nip in the air - winter is on
it’s way! Remember to make sure all your
horse blankets are washed, repaired and
ready for the first cold snap.
Our condolences go out to Andy on the
passing of his father.
We have lots of new faces (human and
equine) at the stables. Welcome to Tiffany
and her Boerperd, Conjo; Anne-marie and
her horse, Gypsy Honour and to Paige with
her horse, Woody. We wish you all many
happy riding days ahead with us.
Congratulations to Sugar who has bought a
new horse, a Warmblood called Rutum. As
a family, they have also taken over Noma
for Kiera to ride.

EASTER EGG HUNT
Our annual Easter Egg hunt was very
well attended by around 40 Phaeton
Parkers and their horses. Our head Easter
Bunnies, Cameron & Johan, headed out
with their little helpers Matthew, Abigail,
Gabriel, Caitlyn, Mila and Jamie, to hide
all the Easter Eggs. Eggs were hidden
in trees, on walls and fences around two
blocks in Glenferness for the Phaeton
Parkers on horseback to hunt down.
Over 820 eggs were hidden. Thank you
Gordon for sponsoring some eggs. After
the outride, we all arrived back at the yard
for some delicious pizza. Everyone tucked
in and spent some time relaxing at the
yard. Thank you to Natalie for organising
an extremely fun day out! Mikhail also took
some photos. They can be viewed on our
Facebook page. There are some images
from the day overleaf.

BLONDES OF THE MONTH
PHAETON PARK EASTER EGG HUNT
Sandra together with her child, au pair
and a groom were running around the
yard in a state. Between them all, they
couldn’t find their palomino pony, Toy
Town, anywhere. They checked all the
paddocks and stables. Convinced the
pony had escaped the property, Sandra
went all the way down to Natalie’s gate
to look for the pony. She then called
him, and in the distance, in the big pony
paddock next to the jumping arena
where all the ponies go out everyday,
she saw Toy Town lift his head and
prick his ears. He had been standing in
the bottom of the manure pit which had
recently been emptied, so no-one could
see him!
After a good ride on Sailor, a fat, dark
bay TB mare, Celine washed Sailor’s
legs down and put her in a paddock.
After letting her cool down, Celine
fetched her and put her back in her
stable. She was a little concerned
because Sailor wasn’t her usual herself.
One of the things Celine noticed was
that Sailor didn’t drop her head when
Celine wanted to put the fly mask on
like she normally would. So she fed this
fat, dark bay TB mare copious amounts
of carrots anyway and went home.
The next morning, Calvin went up to
Celine to tell her she had actually taken
Jenna’s Garnish Girl and put her in
Sailor’s stable. No wonder Sailor didn’t
seem like herself, it wasn’t Sailor!
