Teaching methods
1. There is only one word on each card with Pinyin
above it. So that students could memorize them
through reading or speaking, and it is of
importance to the growth of reading ability.
2. Students should have a good command of five
hundred basic words and accumulate large
amounts of related vocabulary according to
different classes.
The scientific classification method could help
students in this part. Here is the selection criteria of
five hundred words specialized for children.
The first level: use cards of different colors to present
words of different classes, like nouns, verbs and
adjectives.
The second level: words will be sub-divided. For
example, general name, household of articles, food
and animals.
The third level: The word will be further divided. For
instance, animals will be divided into fish, bird and
mammals. This will also cultivate their ability of
summary through Chinese learning.
Students will develop oral communication ability
through vocabulary practice.
Apart from the study of single word, children will
enhance their ability to make full sentences with
single words through plenty of exercises. In this way,
their oral communication ability will be strengthened.
Repeated appearance helps children understand and
command the word and its pronunciation.
Children tend to pay short-term attention to what
they are learning. Thus the repeated appearance of
word is necessary for them to understand the
meaning, the pronunciation and the glyph of the word
on the card.

Chinese characters refer to their mothers through the
pronunciation. After the practice for plenty of time,
the pronunciation of the word is not difficult for them
and vice versa. Therefore, their voice and listening
ability could be enhanced.

of transportation. Students are suggested to read after
parents and teachers: go to the zoo by metro and
there are tigers and monkeys in the zoo.
Parents and teachers are suggested to select the
vocabulary in taught according to different situation.

Usage of word cards
1. single card: after understanding what the word
refers to, children could get a good command of the
