Does a Pope Play a Role
In Bible Prophecy?

The short answer is, we don’t know for
sure. But the Bible prophesies that a reborn
Holy Roman Empire will be in power in the
last days. The Catholic Roman Empire
first came into existence in 800 AD when
Pope Leo III placed a crown on the head of
Charlemagne, pronouncing him emperor of
the Holy Roman Empire. This “empire” has
always been a union of politics and religion.
Its leadership has always consisted of an
alliance between a political leader and a
religious leader.
Those who know eschatology know that
the end-time power leaders will be an
Antichrist (political leader) and a False
Prophet (religious leader.)
We don’t know that there is a connection
between a Pope and the end-times as I
said, but when you looked at the faces
of the 150,000 waiting for Pope Francis’
appearance at the Vatican in mid-March,
you should have been alarmed. Strong
delusion was at play. They were not anticipating a man. They were waiting for a god
in elegant attire to greet them from the
balcony at the Vatican that day. The people
were also in love with pomp and circumstance and longed to worship a man. We
are not suggesting Pope Francis is the
Antichrist or False Prophet, although that
is possible, but we are suggesting he was
adored that day just as the Antichrist will be
early in his reign.
Pope Francis has a deep concern for the
poor and downtrodden and could be friendly to Socialism like America’s President.
They will likely work well together.
What we do know for sure is that he is a
Jesuit and the first Jesuit ever to be a Pope.
Many think there is a “Jesuit plan” to draw
true Christians into an ecumenical union
that is a set-up for an end-time one-world

religion. This, too, is speculation, but is a
possibility. Jesuits were the Catholics most
opposed to the Protestant Reformation.
History shows they were brutal in their war
against true believers. Having said that, we
don’t know that Pope Francis has retained
this kind of an outlook towards non-Catholics.
The Pope’s namesake, St. Francis of Assisi,
is non-threatening and appeals to nonCatholics. This is ideal for getting people
to trust you when they shouldn’t. And, it
is perfect for working for an inter-religious
outreach.
Then of course there was the World Day of
Peace in Assisi, Italy (home of Saint Francis
of Assisi). It was first convened by John
Paul II in 1986. He had Catholics, Hindus,
Buddhists, American Indian shamans,
African witch doctors, and everything else
you can think of, all get together and pray
to their gods in their own ways, all praying
for peace. Then he did it a second year.
And in 2011, Pope Benedict had a 25th
anniversary celebration of it. I am waiting in
anticipation to see what Francis will do with
this ecumenical event!
Argentinians say Pope Francis had a decent
relationship with the Jewish community,
but it will be surprising if he, like other
Catholic leaders past and present, doesn’t
want to internationalize Jerusalem. For
decades, the Vatican has wanted control of
all of the holy places in Jerusalem to keep
them away from both Jews and Arabs. The
Vatican believes in Replacement Theology;
that is, the Church is the new Israel. There
is no appreciation for the nation of Israel or
its restoration.
Many are wondering about the prophecy of
St. Malachy that goes back to the 1100s.

When Good Works Trump Doctrine,
Expect Wreckage

I recently read that the ultra-liberal National Council of Churches (NCC)
is facing an implosion. The once prestigious and now nearly bankrupt
NCC is quitting its famous New York headquarters built with largesse
from John D. Rockefeller. The cornerstone was laid by President
Dwight Eisenhower.
In 1942, many evangelicals met in St. Louis to form the National
Association of Evangelicals (NAE). This was an effort to counter the
influence of the World Council of Churches and National Council of
Churches. Back then and right through the 1980s, the NAE said the job
of the church was to feed the soul, not the stomach.
So the liberal agenda didn’t work for the NCC. They’re downsizing and
moving on. As I watch evangelical outfits, I find myself very nervous
that the programs they are signing on to will fail as well. Nuclear disarmament? Poverty? Immigration? Global warming?
Evangelicals are making the very same mistakes the Mainline Protestants
have made over the last many decades. Their eyes are off of the prize:
Winning the lost while there is time. We’re in the last of the last days
and we don’t have time to change the focus of the evangelical church!
Liberal Protestantism dedicated to good works rather than doctrine

They’re heading pell-mell into the very same mistake and without a
course correction, evangelicalism will be wrecked in another decade.
Pop-psychology and “feel good” pulpits are now the norm and would
have been scorned as recently as the 1980s.
It’s not too late to change the course but it is unlikely in that the Bible
prophesies gross apostasy for the last days. The church will be deluded almost as badly as the world.
The modern-day founders of evangelicalism would be heartbroken, I
believe, if they saw what their vision had morphed into here in the 21st
Century! And while Richard Sisek played the biggest role in this downfall back in the 1990s, hundreds of other leaders today see no problem
with the current agenda. They have drunk the liberal Kool-Aid. Will they
implode just as the NCC is doing? It’s a guarantee!
A Foreshadowing of Global Government?
In March the world got a taste of
global dictatorship-type behavior. The
people in the small nation of Cyprus
almost had some of their money
stolen. They thought it was safely set
away in banks. The Cypriot government planned on using the banks to
literally rob the people of part of their
assets by charging a hefty “wealth
tax”.

see if the rest of the world will let them

March 14. You heard Jack Kinsella
on my radio program very often.
He produced the daily Omega
Letter Intelligence Digest and was
the primary writer for Hal Lindsey
Ministries. Perhaps no one covered current events from a biblical
perspective quite as effectively as
Jack.
He had not felt well for months
but Canada’s socialized medicine
did him no favors by delaying
treatment for his symptoms. By
the time they did begin to explore
his problem, he had advanced
liver cancer and was sent home
with pain meds to die. I spoke
with him a month ago but he
could barely talk.
He leaves behind many family
members who would appreciate
your prayers.
Many of the finest current event
and end-time commentators are
aging or passing on. This makes
us wonder just who will be around
to interpret the signs of the times
as they intensify should the Lord
tarry with His return.
When a new Pope was selected
in March, I found myself wanting
to get Jack’s take on this event!
But by then he was near death
and would pass on a day or two
later. Nobody analyzed such happenings as well as Jack Kinsella.
We really miss him! Nobody is
irreplaceable but he comes close
to it!
Jack Kinsella and I met faceto-face in Phoenix in 2008. We
shared that we were amazed at
all we watched transpire over the
span of our lives. We expressed

The Late-Great America?

I am not sure that many Christian evangelicals are paying much attention to what is going on right before their
eyes. Some say a police state is being formed in America.
Our guns may be taken away, we lose more freedoms
every day, the Left has gone insane with taxation, and
God has been further removed. Most Christians remain
unengaged because Heaven is their ultimate Home. But
we don’t know all that believers will have to go through
before we get there!
This ministry has looked carefully at America in Bible
prophecy both last year and here in 2013. Dr. Mark
Hitchcock addressed that topic at “Understanding
the Times 2012.” I’ve talked about it on air regularly.
Dispensational scholars agree that it may be the Rapture
that will be the most profound hammer of damage to
America. Instantly, millions of righteous Americans will be
gone. Many left behind will have only mischief on their
minds. The glorious removal of the church could usher in
the darkest of hours for our country.
Mark Hitchcock said on multiple occasions that he does
not see America even remotely in the Bible. How is this
possible? Inquiring minds want to know! Like all countries, we’ll march to the beat of Antichrist’s drum and
worship at the altar of the global religion.
As Mark points out, the scriptural silence concerning
America seems to indicate that by the time the Tribulation
arrives, America will no longer be a major influence in the
world. With the road we’re on, without a miracle and a
major reversal, we will not be a major player in the coming
few years. Our economy will be decimated, our military
stripped and bare, our borders will be penetrated, our
dollar will be devalued, and Washington will have far more
corrupt politicians than patriotic representatives. The corrupt will further encourage the wrecking ball treatment on
the greatest nation on the earth.
This is tough but realistic talk. America must decline. She
must become the late-great United States one way or
another. Watching the process is agony for all of us. But
we’re watching a downward lemming-like rush with moral
malaise leading the list of issues that offend a righteous
God.
History reflects the wreckage of many great nations that
have risen to unusual power and prestige, only to decline
and fall under their own weight because of internal corruption, compromise, and a collapse of political will. God
is longsuffering and has blessed America with extraordinary benefits, including political and religious freedom
and economic blessing. But let’s be honest—judgment is
long overdue. We honestly have to ask why America has
been spared divine judgment thus far.
I think it is because this nation has stood by Israel through
thick and thin since her birth in 1948. Both Democrats
and Republicans have been her friend. That is no longer
the case. The current administration sees Israel as the
instigator of all things evil, particularly in the Middle East.
If only pesky little Israel would get with the program and
make room for a blossoming Palestinian state and just get
out of the way!
This begs for God’s judgment more than all the other
offences this nation is embroiled in. Our White House and
State Department are now filled with men and women
who openly cheer for the wicked Muslim Brotherhood,
capable of such evil it cannot be outlined here. Anyone
on the Internet has read about it. Thousands of your tax
dollars have been sent to radical Muslims primarily in the
Middle East, all intent on wiping out the Jewish state.
In light of such precarious times, every reader needs to
ask if they are ready for the Lord’s return? Do you know
for sure where you stand with God? Will you be prepared
spiritually if Jesus’ return is delayed and you have to
endure some heartbreaking times? If you are hesitating
with these issues, seek out a pastor or a friend for counsel
or prayer.
It’s not too late today. It may be tomorrow. The “day of
salvation” is always “now” in the Bible (2 Cor. 6:2). It’s not
when there is a better opportunity or when you might feel
more desperate. It’s today.
The Bitter Fruit of the “Arab Spring”
Two years ago we began watching what is now called the “Arab
spring.” While the Left suggested this was a push for democracy, it
was really an Islamic effort to overthrow moderately stable regimes
such as were found in Egypt and Libya. The replacement for these
regimes would be absolute evil. And those sent running in the areas
of conflict were the Christians.
In March this reached a new level, as chemical weapons were
unleashed on some Syrians. A Reuters photographer said victims
he had visited in Aleppo hospitals were suffering breathing problems and that people had said they could smell chlorine after the
attack,” Reuters reported. “I saw mostly women and children,” said
the photographer, who cannot be named for his own safety.
There are no “good guys” in the Syrian civil war. It’s evil vs. evil and
neither side has any mercy. So what happens when these weapons
are used recklessly against Syria’s neighbors? What happens when
Israel is threatened? We wrote about this in a previous newsletter
and urged you to stay tuned and to stay in prayer. If Israel senses
an ounce of a threat, she will strike at her fierce neighbor and it
won’t be a pretty scene. Millions of lives will be in jeopardy. Read
Isaiah 17.
