2) How to choose by position
Quarterback
Quarterbacks need lightweight pads that won't ride up your head to limit your
movements or field of view.
If your team uses the option and you are part of the running game, you should

consider a shoulder pad made for running backs or defensive backs. These pads offer
quarterbacks, who are part of the team's running offense, more protection.
We recommend you our products: Mark I, Vision I and Z430 I
Skill positions
If you play as a defensive back, tailback, wide receiver or option quarterback, we
recommend you a lightweight pad that won't slow you down, while absorbing blows.
These pads are also designed to provide flexibility and unrestricted movement.
We recommend you our products: VISION I, VISION II, MARK I, MARK II, Z430 I,
Z430 II
Bigger skill positions
Fullbacks, linebackers and tightends should consider pads that use
a plated front rather than laces.
Plated fronts do not require as
much adjustment after every blow.
Some pads also come with vinyl
buckles instead of elastic straps to
fasten more securely the pad under
your arm.
We recommend you our products:
VISION III, VISION IV, MARK III,
MARK IV, Z430 II, Z430 III
Linemen
If you play in the trenches, you need a streamlined pad with fewer flaps
and epaulets (the flaps that extend over the shoulder area) in order to prevent other
players from grabbing and pulling on your pads.
Linemen pads often have vinyl buckles to be fastened more securely.
When choosing between elastic straps and vinyl buckles you should remember that
elastic straps need to be adjusted and replaced after heavy usage. Nevertheless,
elastic straps have the advantage of stretching and shrinking more easily than vinyl
buckles when you breathe and therefore they are most frequently preferred by
players.
We recommend you our products: VISION III, VISION IV, MARK III, MARK IV, Z430
III, Z430 IV
Kicking game
Most punters and place kickers use quarterback pads, since these are lighter and
offer better movement
We recommend you our products: VISION I, Mark I, Z430 I

3) How to Choose the most suitable Size for you
1. Fully strech your arms above your head. If you cannot stretch your arms
properly or if you feel any pain during this test, it may mean that you suffer from
shoulder problems or they may develop in the future. If you feel any pain, you
should consult a doctor before continuing.
2. Stand erect with your arms at sides. Measure the length of your back from
left to right. Round off to the nearest half-inch and have a look at our chart
below. Measurements should be checked at least once a year or when a
noticeable increase in weight or body size occurs.
3. Choose the most suitable pad for you according to the measurement of the
length between your shoulders.
4. Place the shoulder pad on your shoulders and check that the edge of the
strip pad be lined up with the measuring point on your shoulders. Tighten the
elastic body straps not too loosely but not too tightly either, so that the shoulder
pad stays in place while moving.
5. Check that the neck opening be not too tight, your skin might get caught in
between, or too loose, which would expose your clavicle.
6. Check that there be adequate coverage of the sternum and pectoral muscles
at the front.
7. Check that at the back the shoulder blades be covered by the shoulder pad
and not exposed. If any doubt or question arises regarding if the pad fits
properly, you should contact barnett before using it.
8. For pads for young players you will also need to factor in chest size and
weight
4) How to check if the pad fits properly

Check to see shoulder joint is covered by top portion of arch area
Make certain deltoid padding extends to outside edge of shoulder
Make sure front of shoulder (anterior deltoid) is covered by extension of arch
padding
Be sure pads cannot shift when underarm strap is tightly secured
No more than a two finger width exists between strap and body when elastic
underarm strap is secured
Check to be sure shoulder blade is covered by arch and lateral extension of
padding
Be certain arch padding extends below the shoulder blade (scapula)
Check to be sure there is enough clearance on either side of the neck roll when
players hands are raised normally
With pad centered and firmly secured be sure there is no excessive room at
juncture of sternum and clavicle
Do a final check with both helmet and jersey on the player
Properly fit jersey will help hold down shoulder pads in proper position
This is a generalized set of instructions: different sizes of torsos, or height, or
weight might require some other sizes.

on an monthly basis. Replace any worn parts immediately, before your following
