All entries must be owned or leased by exhibitors who reside in Pennsylvania. Any exhibitor shall be permitted to use no more than two (2) leased horses in multiple hitch classes. Any exhibitor shall be permitted to use no more than one (1) leased horse in team or tandem classes. Any leased horses used in halter or single cart classes must be Pennsylvania owned animals. In all cases an executed lease agreement must accompany the entry. Each exhibitor shall be limited to two (2) entries in any class. Only horses representing the breeds of Belgian, Percheron, Clydesdale and Shire will be accepted subject to stall availability. 2. Health: Refer to the link above for Health Requirements. All entries will be subject to the General Rules and Regulations. A current ELISA or AGID (Coggins) test negative report, must accompany the application for entry. 3. Any unsportsmanlike conduct or inappropriate behavior towards horses or people will result in disqualification of the exhibitor, forfeit of premiums, and exhibitor will be required to leave the grounds immediately. Further action will be pending. 4. Any exhibitor whose entries are accepted for the show, and who for two consecutive years, fails to exhibit his animals, shall be accepted for the following year only if extra space is available. Failure to show accepted entries will result in a $100/horse penalty. Entry cancellations received on or before December 23, 2016 will cause for forfeit of entry fees without penalty Substitutions are permissible with committee approval 5. ARRIVAL - Horses may begin arriving 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 4. All horses must be in place by 8 a.m. Friday, January 6. the Equine Barn will be open to exhibitors for set-up and displays on Monday, January 2, 2017. All other areas will be available to exhibitors as stalls are set up. 6. Check-in time for draft horse show registration papers and health papers will be on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the stalls and 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 followed by the driver’s meeting at 10 a.m. in the show office. All additional (post) group class and hitch class entries must be made no later than when exhibitor’s entries are checked into the show. 7. Dress shall be appropriate for the class. Blue jeans are not permitted in the ring for any reason except in the feed scurry and western riding classes if worn with chaps. Should you present in the ring with blue jeans, you will be asked to leave to change to suitable attire. All riders are required to wear a helmet at all times while riding. 8. Halter classes, at the discretion of show management, may be combined, shown together, but placed separately. A horse must be shown in its respective breed class to be eligible to be shown in a group class(es). 9. Exhibitors and helpers must wear wrist bands for identification purposes when entering and leaving the arena and stable area on show day. Bands will be distributed at check-in. 10. Draft Horses will be permitted to be released upon completion of the classes entered. Any exhibit removed prior to the listed times without Show Management approval will result in forfeiture of all premiums. 11. Every attempt will be made to accommodate stalling requests. The horse component will include performance, manners/suitability, soundness, and turnout. All multiple hitches must be made up of horses of the same breed. No stallions are permitted in youth cart classes and all riding classes. Each exhibitor is limited to one entry in classes 0178 through 0181. Classes will be shown on Saturday, January 7, beginning one hour after the completion of the youth classes but no earlier than 11:30 a.m. and on Sunday, January 8, 2017 beginning at 12:00 p.m. Dress for drivers and assistants shall be appropriate. Blue jeans will not be permitted. Except in the feed scurry and western riding classes if worn with chaps. Youth Drivers must be 8-19 years of age, as of December 31, 2016, and must be accompanied by an adult. Youth drivers competing in classes 161, 163, 175-177 and 182-184 may not compete in classes 160, 162, 164-174 and 178-181. Youth exhibitors will be assigned to a specific class depending upon their age A reasonable amount of time will be allowed for tack changes for classes 0164-0177. The amount of time will be at the discretion of the judge During the judging of hitched classes, the following numbers of helpers for each driver are permitted in the arena: 2 helpers in classes 0164 through 0177 & 181-184; 4 helpers in classes 0179 through 0180; and 6 helpers in class 0178 These helpers should remain at the gate and shall be in the center of the arena only in an emergency. Scoring for the judging of all hitch classes is as follows: 60% - Manners and performance; 20% - Conformation (appearance of horse or horses) and 20% - Appointments (wagons, harness) Vehicles will be allowed into the building for hitching at the discretion of the Horse Committee. Six hitched horses may be comprised of ownership to include not more than two exhibitors. In classes 0164 through 0177, horse must be hitched to a suitable two wheeled cart. The winner of the Team Hitch Class may be offered the opportunity to drive the Governor into the Large Arena the following year. Classes are limited to classic fifth wheel show wagon. Champion Hitch Exhibitor - Placings from classes 178, 179 ,180, 181 and 182 will be used to determine the champion Hitch Exhibitor. Points will be awarded based on the number of entries shown in the class. All tie breaker decisions will be made by the judge. All Feed Scurry teams (horses and teamsters) will be limited to one attempt. All drivers (teamsters) must be 14 years of age and older for this class. Class 0205, multiples class, consists of up to four horses hooked to a wagon, any configuration. Team hitches must compete in the team classes. A reasonable amount of time will be allowed for tack changes. The amount of time will be at the discretion of the judge. There will be two classes - lightweight for teams weighing 3,325 lbs. and under; and heavyweight for teams weighing over 3,325 lbs. Entries close November 3. Stalls will be available beginning at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2017. Horses must depart by 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017. Exhibitors with only one team or teams of questionable weight should make but one entry per team. The official weighing with halters on will determine the class in which the team is eligible to pull. Teams will be weighed from 7:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. the day of the contest. Driver meeting will be 11:30 a.m. 6. Horses may pull in one class only & only one division (ie: Horses in this pull cannot pull in the Farm Class Division). 7. A sled will be used in the contest. 8. The contest will start at approximately 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, with the lightweight division first. 9. The contest will be conducted under Farm Show rules. Detailed rules will be furnished to each entry. Competition is limited to teams owned by contestants residing in Pennsylvania. Drivers must also be Pennsylvania residents. A committee of four members, elected by the 2016 contestants, will counsel with the Farm Show Contest Superintendent regarding eligibility of teams entered, and make recommendations for the improvement of the contest.
