BornandraisedinHavana,ND,shenowteaches
ArtHistoryatPresentationCollegeinAberdeen.She
receivedherBachelorofFineArtsdegreeatMinnesota
StateUniversityofMoorhead,MN,andherMastersofFineArtsat
ColoradoStateUniversityinFortCollins,COin2008.
TheartistseesherartasanextensionofherNorth
Dakotarootsandrelationshipstothenaturalworld.“Nature
anditsinhabitantsfuelmycreativeprocess.Iattempttoweave
togetherpersonalnarrativeswithobservationsofmyeveryday
world,”statestheartist.This
groupofpaintingsreflectthat
influenceandhergrowingart
exposuretolargeraudiences
throughoutthepastfewyears.

“TheWorldIsMyStage”includespaintingsthatrangeinsizefrom8”by8”upto38”by
48”.Thepaintingsrelyonoilpaintandoilsticks,sometimescoupledwithacrylicpaintand
collage’materialswhichareappliedwithbrushandscraperfortexturaleffects.Therichearth
colorsandmulti‐layeredtexturingproducesandartpiecewithemotionandsubtlebeauty.“My
paintingscaptureanimageofmyworldthatunitesthefragmentedexperiencesoftimeandplace,
themeansbywhichhumansrecordandcommunicateideas,”commentsHopkins.
