Mo Denny recorded the second hole-in-one of his golfing career when his tee shot found the bottom of the cup on#17 of the Old Hickory Course. Charles Conway posted a “1” on his scorecard after holing out his tee shot on Old Hickory’s 6th hole. Scot Nahrwold posted an eagle “3” on Wildcat’s fourteenth hole. John Silvers also posted an eagle on Wildcat #14 on his way to career best round of 75. Great work and congratulations to each of you on your Great Shot. Please take a moment to report all great and/or unusu- RANGE CLUB Make 2017 the year you dedicate yourself to lowering that handicap. Becoming a member of the FJGC Range Club is a great first step! The yearly membership to the Range Club is only $225.00. Each additional Family member can be added to a Range Club membership for an additional $25 per person. Each Range Club member will be issued two range ball bags. Before each practice session, simply return your empty bags to the Golf Shop and exchange them for two full bags. Any lost or missing bags can be replaced for a $5.00 charge. We would like to remind ALL Range Club members that your range balls are for your personal use only and cannot be shared with another person. We also want to thank our Range Club members for discontinuing the practice of storing in their vehicle. The storage of balls in your vehicle greatly reduced the number of balls available to our patrons. In turn, this requires us to collect balls off the range more frequently and increases our labor costs. Of course, increased costs will be passed along to all of our customers! ON THE COURSE... Spring has sprung!!!! It’s hard to believe this weather has treated us so good this winter. The golf courses are performing at late March to early April levels with fairways being mowed and greens being cut daily. It sure is good for the revenue side and since we are so far down the green up road it would take a week of extreme cold weather to set it back now. The staff was prepared for the early spring and all of the pre-emergence was applied weeks ago and the fertilizer will be applied on March 6th to both courses. Most of all the winter projects were completed and we will now stay focused on maintaining the turf for daily play. There is a new item to be addressed on the courses and that is the grassy natural look around the water hazards on both courses. We have over the past two years been trying to establish a natural grass look and buffer around the ponds and other out of play areas. These are for filtration and aesthetics, and if you get lucky may hold your ball up from the water. It’s for the Audubon International Program in which we are one category from completing the program to become certified. This is a program The Army has supported to show environmental responsibility and the benefits of golf and green space. The last update is to make everyone aware of the erosion of the hillside on #10 Old Hickory, there is a failing pipe from the pond and we have the area roped off. Please stay out of that area, if you hit a ball in there just drop another ball and play on. Thanks. GOLF SHOP NEWS Odyssey Works 2017 Putters. As one of the leaders in the putter category, Odyssey has never been afraid to think outside the box when it comes to putter innovation and the new Odyssey Works 2017 putters are testament to this philosophy. Replacing the previous O-Works range, integral to the new range is the brand’s revolutionary Microhinge insert technology, in which Odyssey claim to have created a new way to roll the ball to help golfers’ ball stay on line more often from different strike locations on the clubface. Microhinge technology increases topspin via an Elastomer insert that is co-moulded with a new stainless steel Microhinge surface with the individual hinges flexing on impact, lifting the ball to produce topspin and ultimately better roll. The O-Works ‘17 range includes many of Odyssey’s Tour-proven shapes and regularly work with the best players in the world to develop and tweak the designs to improve performance and enjoyment on the greens. The new O-Works series comes in nine head shapes, four blades and five mallets, plus tank versions in a blade and mallet also. Tank Counterbalance weighting, available in the #1 blade and #7 mallet, comprising heavier heads and shafts quieten the hands and engage the bigger muscles to deliver more stability at impact and promote a more consistent stroke. The new Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls are the most advanced, best performing golf balls ever stamped with the Titleist script. Precisely engineered using the most sophisticated golf ball technology, new Pro V1 and Pro V1x provide total performance for every player and deliver unmatched quality and consistency. The overwhelming choice of players at every level of competitive golf and best-selling models around the world, Pro V1 and Pro V1x continually set the standard for golf ball performance through relentless research and development innovation and an industry-leading manufacturing process. Advancements for 2017 include new core and aerodynamic designs: The longest Pro V1 ever, 2017 Pro V1 has been reengineered with a Next Generation 2.0 ZG Process Core that delivers longer distance on all shots through lower long game spin and faster ball speed, while maintaining the very soft feel and superior short-game performance that Pro V1 playes demand. A new spherically tiled 352 tetrahedral dimple design produces a penetrating trajectory with even more consistent flight. The extraordinary distance of the 2017 Pro V1x, featuring a ZG Process Dual Core, is enhanced by a new spherically tiled 328 tetrahedral dimple design that produces a high trajectory with its most consistent flight ever. 2017 Pro V1 and Pro V1x continue to deliver superior short game scoring performance. The soft Urethane Elastomer cover system used on both models is precisely formulated to deliver Drop-and-Stop greenside control with soft feel, providing golfers with the performance and confidence to hit it closer to the hole. The soft Urethane Elastomer cover, created by a chemical reaction that takes place during the casting process, also provides long-lasting durability throughout the course of play. Choosing between the total performance of Pro V1 and Pro V1x, golfers will notice differences in flight, feel and spin. Pro V1 flies lower with a penetrating trajectory and feels softer. Pro V1x flies higher, has a slightly firmer feel, and spins more on iron shots. Every Pro V1 and Pro V1x is manufactured by Titleist associates in the company’s state-of-the-art golf ball manufacturing facilities, to the highest performance and quality specifications in the industry. This investment in quality control ensures the most consistent performance from ball to ball, and dozen to dozen. this is critical to allowing golfers to consistently execute the same types of shots round after round. If you have any questions or need any assistance concerning golf equipment, golc accsssories or special orders please ask the Pro Shop Staff. TITLEIST LOYALTY PROGRAM Titleist is again offering the Pro V1 Loyalty Rewarded promotion this spring from March 16-April 16.
