APPLICATIONS
DESCRIPTION
• MIC-24/11 is used for local data
distribution, connecting full duplex
asynchronous DTEs to computers or
controllers.
• MIC-24/11 ensures integrity of data
transmission, using unconditioned
4-wire twisted pair lines at data rates up to
19.2 kbps. MIC-24/11 operates over
distances up to 8 km (5 miles).
• Innovative circuitry allows MIC-24/11 to
operate without connection to the mains
supply, by using ultra-low power from the
data and control signals.
• MIC-24/11 features a switch-selectable
DCE/DTE option. This also permits it to
operate as DTE for connection to another
DCE (such as a multiplexer port), without
the use of a cross-cable.
SPECIFICATIONS
• Data Rates
Up to 19.2 kbps
• Transmission Line
4-wire, unconditioned line
(two twisted pairs)
• Transmission Mode
Asynchronous, full duplex, 4-wire
operation
• Digital Interface
RS-232/V.24, integral 25-pin connector,
male or female
• Transmission Controls
DSR (Circuit 107) and DCD (Circuit 103)
turn on immediately after DTE activates
DTR (Circuit 108/2).
CTS (Circuit 106) turns on immediately
after DTE activates RTS (Circuit 105).
• Transmission Range
Up to 8 km / 5 miles (see Table 1)
• Line Interface
Declaration of Conformity
5-screw (4-wire and ground) terminal block.
Optional interface (see Table 2 and
Ordering):
− RJ-11 jack, mounted directly
− RJ-45 plug, on a 2m/6 ft cable
− RJ-45 jack, mounted directly

declares that the product:
Installation of MIC-24/11 is simple and
straightforward. Proceed as follows:
Product Name:
MIC-24/11
Conforms to the following standard(s) or other
normative document(s):
EMC:
EN 55022 (1994): Limits and
methods of measurement of radio
disturbance characteristics of
information technology equipment.
EN 50082-1 (1992):
Electromagnetic compatibility Generic immunity standards for
residential, commercial and light
industry.
Supplementary Information:
The product herewith complies with the
requirements of the EMC Directive 89/336/EEC.
The product was tested in a typical configuration.
1.
Separate the two halves of the plastic
cover by pressing the marked places on
the sides starting at the cable end.
2.
Set the DCE/DTE switch of MIC-24/11 to
the required position (factory default
setting is DCE).
Note: MIC-24/11 converts only the data
signals. Some of the V.24 control signals
are preset depending on the DCE/DTE
switch (see Figure 1).
3.
To close the unit, simply press the two
halves of the cover together.
4.
Connect the V.11 two twisted pairs to the
screw terminal block: the transmit pair to
“XMT” and the receive pair to “RCV”. A
ground is provided for optional
connection of the cable shield.
5.
Connect MIC-24/11 directly to the 25-pin
connector of the terminal or computer
port, and fasten with the two screws one on each side of the unit.
