At times we get so accustomed to our church schedule that we forget those unique
groups that make a church so special! The Sewing circle began in 1972 and continues to meet every Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. They hand quilt and
also finish quilts for those who have unfinished quilt tops. They make one or two
quilts to sell at the fall bazaar, as well as other handiwork, such as t-towels, pillow cases, etc. From proceeds received, they support many Lutheran synod projects, community projects and our own church projects and needs. They presently
have a raffle in progress for a queen-size pieced quilt. It is currently on display in
the basement, is hand quilted and the tickets are $1.00 each or six for $5.00. The
Raffle ends in September and the proceeds will go to the church’s general fund.
You are invited to join these ladies on Tuesday for an afternoon of fellowship, fun
and stitching. They can teach you if you would like to learn to quilt. They say:
“Come on down!”
[If you’ve never hand quilted, this would be a great way to
learn an almost lost art. Besides the enjoyment of fellowship
with other ladies you have the satisfaction of helping complete a project. Plan on joining them now!]
LWML MISSION PROJECT
THIS PROJECT BENEFITS THE ORPHAN GRAIN TRAIN.
Calling all SEWERS AND SEWING MACHINES! All who would like
to help with sewing pillowcase dresses are encouraged to join LWML ladies
on Thursday, July 14 (10 AM) in the church basement. Bring new or gently
used pillowcases, preferably flowered or colors. Also, go through your sewing supplies for sewing items that may be used to trim the dresses.
NOTE: To help in gathering relief supplies for the Orphan Grain
Train, we are asking for donations of new UNDERWEAR, ALL SIZES
(MENS, WOMENS, CHILDRENS). Watch the local sales. The above Deloris Andersen, Ruby Light and Lois Roysitems plus any good t-shirts, good used clothes, house wares, etc should be ton working on the Sewing Circles’ current
brought to the church by the end of July. They will be packed in marked
project.
boxes and delivered to the shipper in Twin Falls, ID.
DOVE INC (downtown) sells nice used pillowcases for 50 cents each.
Please consider contributing to this project, as we will be able to make a big
difference in the lives of those who need help—both in the USA and other
countries.

GOD’S WEIGHT LOSS PLAN
Too often in today’s world, we think we’re in charge of
our lives. We forget WHO is really in charge and
WHO is willing to always be there for us!
If you look in the mirror and see worry lines, anxieties,
or cares that make you think it may be time to just give
up? Perhaps it is time to: GIVE UP ONCE AND
FOR ALL! Give up all your fears and worries
(everything that is weighing you down). Maybe it is
time to fall on your knees in prayer and humbly turn
everything over to God. He loves you and will NEVER
fail you! - Think how much lighter you would feel!

CHOICE DOLLAR DONORS
As many of you know who are part of Thrivent - Thrivent
Choice Dollars can be delegated to several areas, including
our own church! This money is deposited automatically in
our bank account and can be used for whatever project you
prefer. If you have designated Choice Dollars to the church
and wish to use them in a special way, please contact Jim
Huffman. Once he has a list of where donors would like
their Dollars to be used, the money will be transferred to
that account and held for that project.

LOVE IS KIND!
THANK YOU!
A big THANK YOU goes out to all the members who
showed up to help tear out and pour concrete for the sidewalk in front of the Youth House. A liability problem
was solved in short order! I’m sure they all appreciated
the lunch that was provided by Roberta Trenkel. Thanks
again, to everyone who participated. Working together,
that’s what it is all about!
We’re still looking for volunteers to help man the church
office in the afternoons. If you may be able to help, please
put your name on the big desk calendar in the office. The
Sewing Circle has volunteered to answer on Tuesdays.
A Sunday School teacher began her lesson with a question, ―Boys and girls, what do we know about God?‖ A
hand shot up in the air. ―He is an artist!‖ said the kindergarten boy. Really? How do you know?‖ the teacher

good cause!
Thank you for continuing to supply ‘clean’ (labels removed) prescription bottles AND shampoo to fill them!
If you have trouble peeling the labels off, try putting
them in the freezer for awhile. They seem to release
more easily.
I appreciate all suggestions and contributions for the newsletter! Please continue. Lois Huffman
