He turned Billy Joe Shaver’s “I’m Just an Old Chunk of Coal (But I’m Gonna Be a Diamond Someday)” into a Top 5 hit, and “Wild and Blue” spent two weeks at No. 1 in 1982, soon after “Swingin’” was released, and shot to number 1, becoming one of his signature hits in 1983. Thursday Anderson Coliseum John began working on the album Seminole Wind in the early 90′s. From this album John then released the single “Straight Tequila Night” , and it shot to No. 1, setting the stage for five more years of hits, including Mark Knopfler’s “When It Comes to You,” “Seminole Wind” and the No. 1 “Money in the Bank.” This record spawned numerous nominations, including – Male Vocalist, Song of the Year and Album of the Year. 2014 marks the 30th Anniversary of Anderson’s hit “Swingin” and he recently released a remix version of this hit with Colt Ford. SaraJane McDonald, Rockbridge County’s own, will open the Thursday concert performing with a complete band which includes four talented and seasoned Virginia musicians. Children under 10 Free www.horsecenter.org Colton Pack is an up and coming country music singer. While he has been singing since the age of three, he burst onto the scene at the age of 15 competing in local and statewide competitions. With a great deal of success, he gained the attention of some prominent people. One of Colton’s biggest breaks came, when he met Jeff Stevens, producer of country music superstar, Luke Bryan. In addition to producing, Jeff is a very successful songwriter. Jeff was impressed not only by Colton’s vocals, but by his songwriting abilities as well. As a result Colton, Jeff, and a host of other distinguished Nashville songwriters have collaborated to write numerous songs. Colton also recorded a three song demo produced by Jeff during 2012. Throughout 2012 Colton also had a busy performance schedule. Whether captivating audiences with soulful solo performances or rocking the house with his band, the result is the same: great country music! Colton’s musical instincts and unique vocal tones have continued to amaze those whom he has been fortunate enough to work with or perform for. Through all of this, Colton remains humble due to his upbringing. Growing up on a small farm in Danese, WV has taught him the importance of family, hard work, and staying grounded. Colton has been influenced by the music of many artists, including Rascal Flatts, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Chris Young, Keith Urban, and Hunter Hayes FRIDAY Colton Pack as seen on “X Factor” Anderson Coliseum Begins at 8:00 pm Sponsored by Virginia Lottery we’re game July 16-19 WEDNESDAY THURSDAY Sherwood Amusements 16 rides!!!
