February 15, 2013 Rotarian of the Week Club Notes Pete Griffin — is a Charter member of our Club, a Founda on Major Donor, Paul Harris Fellow and Benefactor. He has 13 years of Perfect A endance. Birthdays for February Lewis White—11, Trish Heyl—13, Don Hirtz—23, Criag Bowles—25 In 1968 Pete met Laura Stanfield over a bridge table and married in 1970. They have 2 sons, Brent and Mark, and 5 grandchildren. When not playing with his grandchildren you can find Pete at ODU basketball and football games. Pete was born in Springfield, MA, and raised in Richmond and Norfolk. While growing up in Norfolk, Pete was ac ve in the Boy Scouts. A er gradua ng from Granby HS he earned his Associate Degree from Louisburg College and Bachelors Degree from ODU. Pete began his career in the Savings and Loan Business with Virginia Beach Federal and then joined Wheat Securi es in 1983. He started Griffin Investment Group of Wells Fargo Advisors in 2004 to assist successful families with mee ng their financial needs. He is involved in numerous organiza ons in the area, including Lee’s Friends, Ghent Methodist Church, ODU Alumni Board and IMCA—
