8th Grade Events Information and Permission Slips

 8th Grade Trip to Date: ​Friday, June 17, 2016 Time: ​7:30 AM ­ 6:00 PM Location: ​Funplex Amusement Park All students must arrive at school no later than 7:30 AM. ​STUDENTS ARRIVING AFTER 7:30AM MAY NOT ATTEND. ​The bus is expected to return to school by 6:00 PM, pending traffic during the return trip. Students may bring food on the bus, however, beverages in glass bottles are not permitted and will be confiscated. Students are not permitted to enter the park with food or drinks. Unity will purchase lunch for students during the trip. Students should wear comfortable clothing such as sneakers, jeans, or appropriate shorts.​ ​During the week of Roundtable presentations, eighth grade students will receive a t­shirt to wear on the trip. ​Students must wear this t­shirt while on the trip. ​The t­shirts may not be cut, tied, or worn in any way except as they are designed. Students who are not dressed appropriately will not be permitted to attend the trip.​ Due to ride restrictions, all book bags, purses, electronics, any other paraphernalia must stay on the bus. Students will not rent lockers to hold these items. Unity is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items. Students will be grouped with chaperones and are expected to follow all safety protocols. Any student found to be excessively disruptive will be prohibited from participating in activities. Please sign the portion below and return it to Ms. Charles by Friday, June 10th. The Eighth Grade Graduation Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 21st at 9:00 AM. The ceremony will be held at Pilgrim Renaissance Convention Center located on Gates Avenue, between Ralph Avenue and Broadway. ​On the day of the ceremony, students are expected to report to Pilgrim Renaissance Convention Center at 9:00 AM so that they may prepare with their class​. Caps, gowns, and tassels will be distributed in the main office during the week of Roundtable Presentations.​ The attire listed below should be worn beneath the Graduation robe. The ​suggested ​student attire for the ceremony is as follows: ● Slacks, button down shirt/collar shirt ● Knee length dress/skirt ● Blouse with sleeves ● Dress/professional shoes preferred ● Ties, blazers, heeled shoes optional Students are expected to arrive at Pilgrim Renaissance Convention Center fully dressed in Cap and gown prior to the ceremony. Eighth Grade Dance Date: Tuesday, June 21st Time: 5:30 PM ­ 9 PM Location: Sugar Hill Supper Club ­ 609 Dekalb, Brooklyn, NY 11216 The dance will be held on Tuesday, June 21st at 5:30 PM ­ 9:00 PM. ​All eighth grade students are expected to arrive at the dance by 6:00 PM. Students that arrive after 6:00 PM will not be admitted​.​ Students are not allowed to bring additional guests to the event. All attendees are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible and appropriate manner. Students that are not adhering to expectations or exhibiting appropriate behavior may be removed from the event. In that case, parents will be called to pick up the child. The theme of the dance is ​Masquerade Ball.​ Students are expected to dress in appropriate semi­formal attire for this event. The dance dress code is outlined below: ❏ Plunging necklines or bare back tops/dresses are not allowed. ❏ Dresses and skirts are expected to be NO SHORTER than an inch above the knee. ❏ Sneakers, sagging pants, tank tops, and T­shirts are not allowed.
