A Glider kit is a new, complete assembly, that includes the cab, frame, steer axle and wheels, along with a loose parts box containing over 160 parts required to get started, but without the major driveline components: Engine, transmission, drivelines or rear axle Allows a customer to use new components, and re-use the major driveline components from an existing vehicle, to build a refurbished truck. All current models are available as a Glider, including the Cascadia Established older models represent the bulk of the business Freightliner models include Columbia, Older Coronado, Business Class M2 and Argosy COE’s Western Star models include the 4900 and 6900 series Front axle assembly, complete with wheels and tires, is standard and required Daimler Trucks North America What is a Glider kit? Limitations in age of equipment varies greatly by brand and model. What options are available for factory installation on a Glider Kit? All options available for a “New” truck are available to be specified and factory installed on a new Glider Kit. What is the typical lead time for a Glider Kit? Typical lead time is 90-120 days from order date. Times are subject to change as market forces change production schedules and delivery times. What qualifies a truck as a Glider Kit? A Glider Kit is a complete cab, front axle, chassis including battery box, air tanks, fuel tank(s) and all chassis air lines installed and plumbed (where applicable). Glider must have a minimum of (2) customer furnished major powertrain components. What is the typical assembly time required to complete a Glider Kit? A non-powered Glider will take approximately 50-80 hours to complete. A powered Glider may be low as 25-40 hours. What is a “prep” kit? A prep kit consists of pieces to install customer furnished components. For example: “Prep for customer furnished batteries” Contains battery hold-down bolts and custom battery cables for this specific truck. What is a “provision for customer furnished” code mean? A provision typically does not include any parts, but provides notice to our engineering department as to what component the customer will be installing.
