Demonstration Procedure
Snap nearest spherical lenses to the patient’s reading
prescription into the empty 8122 carrier frame.
Enquire of the patient whether they can see to read at
close and then point out to them how little is clear at
further intermediate. Select the appropriate degressive
power overspec (add less 0.50) and clip onto the carrier
frame. Again ask the patient whether it is still clear
to read (which it will be) and then ask them again to
look up into the intermediate distance and they should
remark favourably on their new found intermediate
vision range. To judge any benefit of an extra 0.50
degressive (or a lesser degression) is just as quick and
easy by changing to an alternate degressive power clip.
The final Rx with spherical cylindrical elements and
prescribed degression power can then be specified in
the happy knowledge that the correct degression power
for the patient’s preferred inter distance has been
correctly selected literally in seconds. To evaluate the
effect of a cosmetic office tint, double over clip with the
chosen colour; experience has shown there is usually a
strong individual preference to the preferred tint colour.

Comprising a C8122 Magna frame with 22 pairs of
shaped lenses +/- spheres from 0.50DS to 5.50DS in
0.50 steps, together with 7 magnetic clip-ons, three
glazed with standard CR39 brown, grey and green LTF
15%, three polarised INAR in grey, green and brown,
and finally one Drivewear with INAR.
Choose the clear Rx lenses closest to the patient’s distance
prescription. Click them into the C8122 frame.
Then by over clipping a tinted CR39 you can demonstrate to
the patient vision through a regular sun tint.
Demonstrate using the reflective picture on the inner lid
when changing to NuPolar clips from standard CR39 how
glare disappears as if by magic.
Finally the cool Transitions® Drivewear® can be
demonstrated, perhaps even the patient using their
temporary spectacle combination on the street, out in the
sun!
