Firmly Secure Patients during Lateral Surgery
PLAINVILLE, Conn. (March 13, 2014) –Working closely with key surgeons and institutions to
develop the most advanced hip positioners for positioning patients in the lateral decubitus
position, Innovative Medical Products has created a family of hip positioners and accessories
that will safely and securely stabilize most any size patient for total joint replacement and other
procedures requiring the patient to be in the lateral position. IMP’s lateral devices also benefit
the OR staff by making patient lifting unnecessary during positioning.
The Universal Lateral Positioner® System has removable and independently adjustable anterior
arms that allow more accurate contact with the iliac crests, creating a reproducible point of
reference for primary and revision arthroplasty. The system’s hyperflexion plate allows up to
120 of flexion during ROM testing.
The De Mayo Hip Positioner® firmly supports patients while eliminating pressure on the
patient’s abdomen. The lateral positioner is nurse-friendly, making patient lifting unnecessary
during positioning. The IMP device features a cross arm that swings away for maximum
surgical exposure.
The Large De Mayo Hip Positioner® stabilizes obese patients in the same orientation
throughout the surgical procedure. The positioner can be ‘built up’ around the patient so that
OR personnel don’t have to lift the patient on the operating table. The IMP solution comes with
latex-free, single-use pads that protect the patient from excess pressure, while eliminating the
potential for cross contamination.
IMP’s patented MorphBoard® modular pegboard positioning system features a lightweight
center board that can be easily adjusted to accommodate an obese patient’s large abdomen for
lateral positioning. The MorphBoard®’s 20” wide, 30” long, center board, when rotated 90
degrees and combined with the two end boards, “morphs” into a 30” wide section large enough
to support most obese patients. The MorphBoard® enables OR personnel to simply roll patients
onto their sides for easy stabilization using the various peg-hole locations.
To ensure complete patient stability during surgery, IMP has developed the Expand-A-Peg™
Locking Peg, a new hip surgery positioning peg that will not wobble or dislodge from the
pegboard hole. The exclusive patent-applied-for IMP design, with its unique, ease-of-use
locking mechanism, provides the most stable peg hip positioning system in the industry.
