Why a Youth Centre?
5 Reasons we need Education
and Engagement of Non-Practicing
and Practising Muslim Youth
Obstacles:
Connection is the key to Communication, and there is little connection between scholars,
students of knowledge and our Non-Practicing Muslim Youth.
Strategy:
We employ educated Youth Trainers, Youth Workers and Students of Knowledge in our
Engagement Seminars, who are specially and specifically talented as connecting with youth who
have glamorized the American Dream.
The Result:
Non Practicing Muslim Teens who have attended our Engagement Seminars have come out
impressed ! They look up to the Brothers who have hosted them, and speak well of them. Some
have commented on their personalities as the main attraction. Descriptions like ‘Amazing, they
were so down to earth, this was the best session ever .. ‘ and more, walhamdulilaah.
Practicality:
Non Practising Youth need to be able to look at someone else, a Youth Trainer or a Student of
Knowledge, and see themselves in that mentor. Connection begins with the concept “ if they can
do it, so can I...”
Community:
We are implementing some of the most innovative connection techniques available within the
Muslim Community. From Dinners, to Excursions to Helicopter rides. Mentors/Teens are enjoying
themselves and watching as their brothers establish the salat and the deen, whether in the park,
between tasks or elsewhere. Showing Teens how to establish their deen within the public sphere,
and still enjoy their lives is vital to their mental transition and personal growth. Being plagued with
many disconnected youth, does not absolve us of the responsibility to search out new
ways to engage them, it is an opportunity for us as Muslims to learn and grow together as
mentors.

Main Objectives
1
URGENT: Mentorship
There is a deep need for mentorship of both Non-Practicing and practising
Muslim Youth. Youth who spend no time in masajid are the main focus of
mentorship engagemnet. Families have a constant need for mentors
who can relate to the issues relative to current times. Peer pressure and
expectations to conform create major self esteem issues in youth.
Muslim immigration to Canada has increased exponentially in the last 20
years. This means many first generation Muslim Canadians are facing
challenges to
engagement events
2
Using high impact personalities and new scenery, Mihrab Centre for Youth
intends to attract the most neglected segments of Muslim Youth.
Our engagement events are bridges which make a safe passage for those who
are not practicing Islam. Among them are youth who may have been involved
in drugs, gangs or have been alienated from Islam.
3
Classes and programs for young Muslims who are practising Islam will be held
quarterly also in various locations.
facility - lounge & sports
Mihrab Centre for Youth has been operating remotely for many years. The
obstacles of remote operation are many. Parental support is an important
resource for the community, as is mentorship.
Parents often contact our Youth Trainers asking to bring their teenagers to
speak with them. Having a central location for parents to bring their youth
will benefit the authenticity of the mentorship process.
Our youth centre will be a sports facility, mentorship centre, and resources
centre where classes and educational seminars can serve to better each
demographic.
Fresh Perspectives
Breaking into the mindset of the Youth Demographic and
decrypting what governs their actions and reactions is
the main obstacle when initiating a mentorship
relationship.
through our interactions, Muslim youth who go to Islamic
Schools do not enjoy learning in the masjid environment.
The technical Islamic knowledge that they have must be
tried, in a more neural testing ground which mimics the
scenarios they will face in university.
Special Events
Basketball games, helicopter rides, pastry tastings and
much more. Our special events are precisely the avenue to
inject life into the technical knowledge of young Muslims.
As a principle, we understand that those who have low
eman, were given ample gifts in the time of Rasul Allah sala
Allahu alayhi wa salam.
Utilizing creative engagement is key to helping young
muslims make the mental transition to a conscious young
adult. It is between the ages of 14 - 17 where a teen begins
to define their persona. This persona which they are
sculpting most often mimics the most fun loving people they
encounter.

Research &
Development
Youth are technologically advanced, and in their day to day
activities are subjected to advertising, media, and
programming second to none in the world being funded by the
mainstream popular culture.
Islamic Development of New Media and honing
Communications technology is of paramount importance
when mapping engagement of Teenage Muslim Youth.
Initiating activities which can act as a bridge for Youth to view
Islam in a practical light will make it easier for youth to make the
mental cross over into practicing Islam in adulthood.
Research and Development Funding is vital in this progression.
