*Complete our written composition through the
writing process (brainstorm, prewrite, draft,
revise, publish).
*Past tense verbs (verbs that have an “ed” on
the end to show that the action has happened

Spelling:

Concept: We will begin to explore good
citizenship and learn about the good
citizens: Washington, Lincoln, Eleanor
Roosevelt, and Marian Anderson.
Phonics Skill:
L Blends: a blend is when two letters are
combined to ALMOST sound like one sound. This
week we will be exploring “l blends.” These blends
can be at the beginning or ending of a word.
Example Blends:
Sl, pl, cl, fl
Example Words:
Slip, slop, slime, plan, plant, planet, clip, clap, cliff,
flag, flip, flake, etc
Sight Words:
Sight words need to be memorized for
spelling test and automatically identified.

Homework:
*Please read every night and complete the reading
log.
*It is always an EXCELLENT idea to practice the
concepts we are learning at school at home as well.

Reminders:
* Please make sure that your child is wearing tennis shoes
at school. It is for their safety

* Don’t forget to check out your teacher’s
webpage!
*Have your child identify fiction (not real) and nonfiction
(real) books at home. Sort them into each category.
*Practice writing l blend words into different categories.
Highlight the blend in each word
*When reading with your child try to figure out the authors
purpose.
*practice writing different numbers to 20 and determine
how many tens and ones that number would have.
*write sight words 5 X each and then write in a sentence.
*Practice doubles math facts to 20. (1+1, 2+2, 3+3, 4+4 to
10+10)
*Review math facts: number + 1 and Number -1
