Teacher
Jethro Tull meets the Teacher
© 2000 by David J. Landegent.
Well the Lord was coming,
Heard him calling me to help~
He said, ``My name's the Teacher,
That is what I call myself~
And I have a lesson – that I must impart to you~
It's a revelation – but I must insist it's true~”
“Jump up, come around,
YOUR new life’s begun~
No sense in sitting there hating everyone.
I’m the Messiah, but I haven’t got a home~
The least shall be the first then
When I’m on the throne~”
So I took a journey,
Threw my world into the sea~
Walking with the Teacher
I found love instead of me~
God can, here’s the plan,
Follow what He said~
His hand gives commands
Dying in my stead
Don’t try to analyze
The message that you find~
He’s what you’re lookin’ for
The Master is so kind~
interlude
Then the Teacher told me
That my life had just begun~
He’s my Lord and Savior
The battle has been won~

Fat Man
Jethro Tull tells of Ehud & Eglon (Judges 3)
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
King Eglon was a fat man~
Israel had suffered under – his big thumb
They cried against this fat man~
They prayed for God to help them – overcome
God sent a savior who would– be shrewd –
A judge named Ehud to aid the Jews –
He brought the king a tribute, but
Hid his knife from view
interlude
Before the royal fat man~
Ehud gave message of a – secret pact
He got the king by himself~
Then Ehud stabbed him right where – he was fat
Don’t waste your time feeling sorry for him –
He hurt the Israelites with all– his sin –
Ehud fled far from Moab and made
Sure the fat king din’t win
Living in the Past
Jethro Tull starts a new life
© 1998 by David J. Landegent
Happy and I’m smiling
Walk a mile for Living Water
You know, Lord, that I love You
And above You there’s no other
I’ll go walking out
While others doubt the Holy Mas~ter
Oh, people living, let’s stop living in the past
interlude
Once I used to join them
I enjoyed the world as my friend
There was no solution
I was stuck in sin’s dominion
Then I raised my cry
To God on High, to shake disa~ster
Oh, people living, I stopped living in the past
Oh, people living, let’s stop living in the past
Oh, no, no people living, let’s stop living in the past
A Christmas Song
Jethro Tull celebrates the reason for the season
© 1998 by David J. Landegent
Once in royal Da–vid’s Ci~ty
Stood a lowly cat–tle shed~
Where a mother held– her Ba~by
You’d do well to remember the things He la–ter
said
When you’re stuffing yourselves
At the Christ~mas par~ties
You’ll unwrap all the presents to
Make a pile– of junk
You’re missing the point
I’m sure does not need ma~king
The Christmas spirit is — not what you drink
So how– can you laugh
When the children go hun~gry
And how can you smile
When the reasons for smi–ling are wrong
And if I’ve just messed up
Your thought–less plea~sures
Remember that the Word came in flesh,
Our Christmas~ song~
The Lord is there

Jethro Tull sings Psalm 62
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
O my soul has found rest in Jehovah alone
My salvation indeed is surely found in Him
He alone is my Rock and my Tower of
strength
In the Fortress of God I will stand
There are elephants and tigers
Jungles, marshes, rainy days
Seaweed and green pastures, icy waves.
Oranges, river canyons, penguins
Branches dangling down
Thunder in the storm clouds every day
verse 1, chorus
Oh God’s good – oh God’s good.
chorus again
How long, how long will – you undermine me?
And would you, yeah – all of you
Like to knock me down?
I’m just a tottering fence, a leaning wall
You bless, yet hearts still curse~
interlude
One thing God has spoken of
And two things have I heard
That– You, O God, are strong,
And that You, O Lord, are love
Surely You will give rewards
For what each one has done
Trust in Him, O people
Now and evermore~
interlude, chorus two times
O my soul has found rest in Jehovah alone
My salvation indeed is surely found in Him
He alone is my Rock and my Tower of
strength
In the Fortress of God – I’ll stand–
Up the Pool
Jethro Tull celebrates God’s creation
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
We know that God is good
From what is here below
The taste of wild strawberries
The sight of morning – glow
The mountains of the land
And the beaches full of sand
The Lord created seasons
And He shows us all the reasons
For the universe
The silver stars shine down
Upon the silver – sea
And along the golden isles
There are – swinging, windblown trees
The prairies bright and fair
The water, rocks and air
The order of the robin’s nest
Oh, look around, and you’ll confess
Nothing to Say
Jethro Tull has something to say: the gospel
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
Everyday there's someone asking,
“What is there to do?
Where is love and where is light
Is it all the same to you?”
“No,” I say, “I have the answer
Proven to be true”
And if I were to share it with you
You could only gain, if you would lose~
Oh I couldn't bear it
If I had nothing to say.
Nothing to say – nothing to say
Every morning pressure’s forming
All the world’s unwise
Ceilings crash, the walls collapse,
Broken by the lies
Adam’s misfortune brought upon us
And I won't disguise– them.
So just ask me if I’ll explain
I will not be ashamed to tell you why~
Oh, Jesus is the name of names
And I’ve got something to say
Something to say – something to say
Climb a tower of freedom,
Paint your own deceiving sign.
It's not my aim to criticize
But I’ll ask you why you’re blind
To your own pressing problems
And the hate you must unwind.
You ask of me for answers
There is one that I could give if you would find.
I went your way ten years ago
Now I've got something to say.
Something to say – something to say
interlude
Something – something to say
Something – something to say
Something – something to say, something to say
Something – something to say, something to say
Something – something to say
The grace of Jesus is not far

Witch’s Promise
Jethro Tull speaks to a skeptic
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
Lend me your ear while I call you a fool~
You resisted the switch to life that is good~
And later insisted your evil was true~
The Savior’s promise was coming~
He’s seeking and searching,
While laughing you flew
He’s calling red, yellow brown, all men the same~
From the life that is found outside in the pain~
Come drink of the water that flows in His name~
The Savior’s promise was coming~
But you're looking elsewhere
For your own selfish gain.
interlude
You’re looking, you’re looking for somewhere to be
Well, you're wasting your time,
When you will not believe
Meanwhile He– keeps calling,
You're too blind to see.
You won't turn to Jesus now, or say a prayer~
He was willing to give to you, you didn't care~
You're looking for more
But you're already made~ aware~
The Savior’s promise is coming~
Why DON’T you look up to Him,
Before it’s too late~
Sweet Dream
Jethro Tull tells us to listen for God’s call
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
You hear God calling to be re–deemed
You hear the Father’s warning cry
He calls you back to be everything
You’re made to be
If you’re redeemed you’ll find new life
You hear His voice is calling
To be born again,
Live the rest of your life full of praise.
Get out and leave while you can
Don’t be livin’ in sin and – sleeping
The time is now at hand
All the lost that He bought, He’ll be – seeking
No one but Jesus Christ can re–deem
Just let Him break your hardened heart
All wrapped up tightly
IN the coat of sorrow & need
To Cry You a Song
Jethro Tull celebrates Christmas with the shepherds
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
Flying so high, came to the shep~herds
Angelic multitudes were singing a song –
God has come down, He’s born there in Bethlehem
Christ is in David’s town to right all our wrongs –
And at the right time~ the angels did sing
About the Lord’s birth~
And the changes He’ll bring
interlude
“Look for this King, inside a manger bed”
So said the angels, who were singing a song –
“Don’t be afraid, the One whom you’re looking for
“Came with Good News, to right all your wrongs”
chorus, interlude
“On earth is peace, glory unto the Lord”
Suddenly angels came, singing a song –
The STAR was so bright
Announcing that He’s the Lord
Came down from the skies to right all our wrongs
Singing All Day
Jethro Tull sings and prays without ceasing
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
Singing all day, singing of God’s love
Singing all day, singing of God’s love
Singing all day, singing of God’s love
Hallelujah – hallelujah
Went down to the Lord’s house to offer a prayer
Prayed for the crowds to seek the Lord there
Down on my knees that He’ll give me a hearing
Hear my heart’s cry – hear my heart’s cry
Lord, I will plead~ that You’ll remember
Lord, I believe~ You’re our Defender
Oh, send us Your Spirit, & blow on these embers
Hear my heart’s cry – hear my heart’s cry
interlude
Singing all day, singing of God’s love
Singing all day, singing of God’s love
Back in God’s house, nothing postpones me
Singing my song, to the Most Holy
I know I have access, through the atonement
By the Spirit, by the Spirit
chorus
Life is a Long Song
Jethro Tull finds joy in trials
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
When you're falling awake – and you take
Stock of the new – day,
And you hear what God spoke, when He wrote
And now you need to – pray
Well, don't you fret, don't you fear,
God will give– you good – cheer.
Life's a long song.
Life's a long song.
Life's a long song
If you wait with your faith, He will – fill.
As the hours unfold and your soul
Suffers the long – day,
And the twelve o'clock gloom~ spins the room,
You struggle on your – way.
Well, don't you sigh, don't you cry,
Find the love from on – High~
chorus a
Our Lord Jesus will keep us so – strong
As the Name above Names – shares your pain
You’re finding that you’re – blessed
And He’ll turn you around – upside down
Workin’ for your – best
Well, don’t you squeal, just be still
Life is under God’s – will~
chorus a
He’ll come soon with a tune for us all

Jethro Tull tells of a homeless man’s conversion
© 1997 by David J. Landegent.
Sitting on a park bench
Eyeing little girls with bad intent
Snot running down his nose
Greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes
Hey, homeless one
Drying in the cold sun
Watching as the pretty panties run
Hey, homeless one
Feeling like a dead duck
Spitting out pieces of his broken luck
Oh, homeless one
Sun-streaking cold
An old man wandering lonely
Taking time the only way he knows
Leg hurting bad as he bends to pick a carton
He goes down to the bar & warms his feet
Feeling alone, he trudges down the road
Salvation’s what he needs and a cup of tea
Homeless one, my friend,
Don’t you slink away uneasy
You poor old salt, you see just pover-ty
Do you still remember December’s foggy freeze
When the ice that clings on to your beard
Was screaming agony
Hey, and while snatching after your last breaths
You hear the joyful sounds
They’re the carols of the Christ, a newborn King
Just as foretold
The Savior in a manger
Coming to his own, but they don’t know
God’s only Son came to Bethlehem a stranger
He’s born down in the barn with few to greet
Bearing our load,
Christ trudges down the road
Salvation’s what he gives
And it’s what we need
Homeless one, my friend,
Jesus walked with all the needy
He had no home, but He can set you free
interlude
Homeless one, my friend,
Jesus walked with all the needy
He’ll take you home, for He can set you free
Sitting on a park bench
Worshiping the Lord with good intent
God’s changing what he knows
Jesus’ fingers reaching to his soul~
Hey, homeless one
Crying to the Lord’s Son
Watching as the Spirit’s work’s begun
Hey, homeless one
Feeling like he’s unstuck
Knowing God’s gracious love is more than luck~
Hey, homeless one — Oh~ homeless one
Locomotive Breath
Jethro Tull sings of the cross
© 1998 by David J. Landegent
At the Lord’s crucifixion
Saw a sacrificial death
Where the All-time Loser’s
Pay-ing for our debts
Oh, he hears the mocking masses
Blood dripping from his brow
The Lord is on the altar
Termination will atone
You know He wears the crown, oh
Saw disciples run off
The soldiers having fun
His mother and His best friend
In grief, they’re standing stunned
Oh, He’s calling out a final word
Nailed by hands and feet
chorus, interlude
He hears the silence howling
Watch Satan as he falls
He’s the All-time Winner
God made Him Lord of all
Oh, it’s written in the Bible
Starting at page one
It says, God is on the altar
Termination will atone
You know He wears the crown
Oh, He wears the crown
Oh, He wears the crown
Oh, He wears the crown
Oh, He wears the crown…
Cheap Day Return
Jethro Tull celebrates rebirth
© 2002 by David J. Landegent
Forgiven, transformed
By the Good News that will last~
Brush away the sinful past
And take another path~
And then you gladly wonder
How the Lord killed your old man
The way He should
He made you free, all for your behalf
Gotta laugh
Cross-Eyed Mary #1
Jethro Tull visits Mary and Martha
© 2002 by David J. Landegent
Every time the Lord came, then Mary’s at His feet
Listening for wisdom and commands~
But who is in the kitchen and a’workin’ like a dog
Her sister Martha doin’ what she can~
“Watch how Mary – is sittin’ with the men
She’s got–ten so lax
And she doesn’t use her hands
Dinner isn’t ready
Won’t you make her help me too”
Said the worn-out Martha
While she makes the food, oh
After that the Savior
Had to give poor Martha joy
The Savior spoke to her distracted brain~
He’s drawing her attention
To what is needing done
He pulls her from the dishes and the plates~
“Watch how Mary
Likes to hear the Word of God
She can look past this world
And her worries will be gone
There is one thing needed
That can make you good and strong
Mary chose the better highway
And I won’t say that it’s wrong, no”
interlude, verse 2
Watch how Mary – is listening again.
She makes good con-tact
At the feet of Jesus stays
Don’t you be so worried
All about your clothes or food
Cuz the worn-out Marthas
Need to choose the good, oh - hey
Watch how Mary – Mary, oh, watch how Mary
Cross-Eyed Mary #2
Jethro Tull is drawn to the cross
© 2002 by David J. Landegent
He would die a poor man,
With criminals and thieves
But He would forgive them who had sinned~
And He would tell them gladly
From His sore and thirsty mouth
That they could be in paradise with Him~
Cross of mercy – atoning all our sin
He bears all God’s wrath
Now we’re callin’ on His name
Died for us while villains
Cancelled debts and IOUs
And you know BY His blood
We are born anew, oh
Laughing at the Savior
Gettin’ kicks when they destroy
They mock and torture, jeering at His name
But at the crucifixion, this world is come undone
The darkness soon will turn into the day
Cross of mercy
Where the Lord has cancelled wrongs
If you turn from this world
Then He’ll give to you a song
He’s the sick man’s healer
And He’ll make you good and strong
To the bloody wood of Calv’ry
Every person will be drawn, oh – hey
interlude, verse 2, chorus a
Cross of mercy – mercy, oh cross of mercy
Mother Goose
Jethro Tull watches Jesus do ministry
© 2002 by David J. Landegent
As I did walk alone in prayer~
I came upon such Good News, of the King of Jews
He was preaching
And a Torah student said to me~
Is it really true, could He be the Messi–ah too
That or did He trick us?
Walked down by Capernaum
To try and catch this One~
Saw at least a hundred people waiting there
For healings they had come~
I wonder if they knew– He was the Savior
And a harlot lady said to me~
Tho I’m misbehaving, He’s got what I’m craving
Grace and mercy
And the rich and fancy came today~
But they disappeared, when He made it clear
They loved their money, hmm
Sat down in the meadow green
I watched Him as He spoke~
With’a many parables and miracles
He’s givin’ them some hope~
I wonder if they knew–
He was like a Shepherd
Saw Jesus search till lost were found~
When they get off track, He would call them back
Callin’ all the poor men
verse 1, chorus a
Wind-Up
Jethro Tull rebukes liberal preachers of his youth
© 2002 by David J. Landegent
When I was young & they packed me off to school
And they taught me how I – could play the game,
I didn't mind if they groomed me for success
Or if they said that I was just a fool.
So I left there in the morning
With their god tucked underneath my arm
Their plastic smile and their book – of rules.
And I asked this God a question
And by way of firm reply, He said,
I'm not the kind you have to wind up on Sundays
So to my old head pastor and to anyone who cares
Before I'm through I'd like to say~ my prayers
I don't believe you:
You had the whole God thing all wrong
He's not the kind you have to wind up on Sundays
Well you can excommunicate me
On my way to Sunday school
And have all the bishops harmonize their lies
brief interlude
YOU didn’t DARE to tell me
About the Father's Son
How He became a man by Vir–gin Birth
The Savior came and found me,
Arose on Eas–ter morn
And now He reigns the Lord of heav’n and earth
In your pomp and all your glory
You're a poorer man than me,
As you lick the boots of death born out of fear.
Whoa–
When I was young & they packed me off to school
They taught me how I – could play the game,
I didn't mind if they groomed me for success
Or if they said that I was just a fool.
So I left there in the morning
With their god tucked under my arm
Their plastic smile and their book – of rules.

I didn't mind if they groomed me for success
Or if they said that I was just a fool.

Jethro Tull seeks forgiveness
© 1998 by David J. Landegent
O Father, High in heaven
Look down upon Your son~ yeah
I’m tempted by the — money games
Oh, the women and the gold
Well, Jesus save me
And You know I’m not a hero
I’m stuck in immorality~ hey
And so I call Your name to, do the good~
Oh – Father, set me free–
Oh, Jesus save me
My Je–sus saves
And I cannot save myself
I’m a broken promise keeper
Erase my sins and debts, oh
Oh– Jesus save me
And the graven image you once drew~
With your plastic crucifix – it’s just a trick
Confuses me as to who and where and why~
All these idols are so sick – they are so sick
Unless you– stop and end this sin
To idols bowing down
You’ll be praying till the Doomsday
To all the gods that you concoct
interlude, chorus
Well I saw Him near the city
And in the darkness of the noon~ hey
His cross was rather bloody
Oh, He has ransomed and atoned
Well, Jesus save me
Wond’ring Aloud
Jethro Tull prays aloud
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
Wond’ring aloud – what’s revealed~ today
Last night, read the Bible – and end–ed in prayer
The Lord is my Savior
With my heart, I will start, seeking light~
Help from the Father~
Wond’ring aloud – will our tears be dispelled?
With the Lord in the heavens
His grace– makes us – well, yeah
Our hope is the difference, as He calls–
To the crowds, needing bread~
And they will be fed
Thick as a Brick
Jethro Tull shares the story of Jesus
© 2000 by David J. Landegent.
Ready your mind and be rid of all doubt
The Word and the Spirit will whisper and shout
The Kingdom is real–; the Creator is King
A song of redemption, the angels will sing~
So you read the Lord’s message revealed~
The Word and His promise are – sealed~
But the wise men don’t know that it’s real~
They’re as thick – as a brick
And the sand castle virtues are all – swept away
In the tidal destruction, the moral melee
The fullness of time brings the long-waited Day
When at last we discover the One who will save~
And a new life is for – those who yield~
To Jehovah, our Sun, and – our Shield~
But the wise men don’t know that He’s real~
They’re as thick – as a brick
And it’s only His giving that makes you
What you are
And the Lord that we seek~ is not far away~
You can meet Him and receive~ Him~ today~
So don’t shake your head – and say it’s a shame
My God
Spin me back down the years–
To the land~ of the Jews
Show the grace of the Master
And tell me – the WHOLE truth
Spin me down the long ages
Let them sing the song~
Jethro Tull prophesies against idolaters
© 2002 by David J. Landegent
People – what have you done~
Blocked the message that can save, that can save
You defend a false religion~
The Resurrection you degrade, you degrade
Your idols gods are nothing
But that’s all that you can see
You miss the God of everything
Who lives eternally~
So lean upon the Savior
And just call on Him to save
You from your evil idols
And the sins you’ve learned to crave,
You’ve learned to crave
The holy church of Jesus – proclaims eternity
Requests your full attention
For the Lord of history~
lengthy interlude
short interlude
See there! A Son is born
The Messiah– prophesied
All the nations– on His shoulders
And the angels– sing in the night
The Word of God is He
Full of truth and grace~
In flesh – He’ll have a sympathy
For the people in pain~
long interlude
The Master and the Baptist
Casting shadows on the water
As the dove flies, and the Father speaks
With Jesus, He is pleased
The devil and the Master
No allowance for the other
The testing in the wilderness
Attacks Him in His need
Will HE be diverted, or settle for a shortcut
No, the Master’s holding out – in the fray~
No hunger tempts Him, no worldly offer
Can obstruct the cross’s calling; He obeys~
So the devil fails again
When the Master quotes the Word
The blind can see, the deaf can hear
So gather at the Lake~
So the Son of God in Galilee
Is moving with authority
Calls disciples by the sea
They cast their nets aside
Following their Guide~, oh–
You bid us all to come
As You smile at everyone
“Just cast your cares and say your prayers
And the Father sees it’s done”
And You laugh most joy-fully
As You tell us what we can be
On our knees, it’s there we see
What needs to be done
long interlude
The Master quietly reading
At the synagogue in Naz’reth
Where the prophet named Isaiah
Tells of One who’s yet to be
“The Spirit has anointed
Renews the age-old purpose
And now this Word has been fulfilled
While hearing what I read
The Good News of the Kingdom
Is here and at Your service
Repent and be accepted – in this year~”
The innocent young Master, embracing a disaster
He knows the plan for changing man redeemed
And the devil fails again
When the Master quotes the Word
So the Son of God in Galilee
Is moving with authority
Preaching to the crowds in need
He challenges the ones
Who’re judging everyone~
interlude
What do you do– when the sabbath comes?
It’s a time for healing
All the healing isn’t wrong
That’s the day to free them
“I’ve come to help~ the ones in need~
And the world – can turn and come to me~”
long interlude
He came down from the heavenlies
To mend our rotten – ways~
The Savior is a man of pow’r
The demons all obey~
short interlude
So come on, all you crippled ONES
His love can set you straight~
long interlude
Your bread and water’s running out
Five thousand need to eat~
He multiplies some bread and fish
Till everyone re-ceives~
interlude
“Bless-ed is he – who’s pure and meek
Mourners comforted, makers of peace
They love – their enemies
They keep – secret their deeds
Their lives – truly exceed what laws demanded”
interlude
“I see them shuffle in the town square
With their rings upon their fingers
And they’re fasting, clothed with ashes
And their piety’s in view~
Straying from the Lord’s grace
Don’t follow their exam~ple
Or their legalistic idols
Who let them bend the rules~”
short interlude
So, come hear the Master’s stories
As they echo through the ages~
His parables of prodigals
They show us all the way~
The lost are found with merriment
Won’t you enter in the cove~nant
All the rebels are oBEdient
When Jesus saves the day~
They could’ve sunk and all been drowned
When a storm came up one night
Then He calmed the whitecaps down
With a Word He showed His might
And so you finally ask the Lord,
“Tell us who You are
That you calm the waves with a simple word
It surely is bizarre”
interlude
So who can solve the riddle
Can you TELL us His iDENtity~?
Is He another prophet
Who’s come to share the truth~?
I call JE-sus the Messiah
The Son of God and Sa~vior
He’s the King of all creation
He’s the Lord Emmanuel~
long interlude
See– there, a Man has come
To the City– of~ Peace
There’s a cross– fit for His shoulders
And He will bear all– our~ disease
A little while for Him – He’ll be laid to rest~
Three days – He’ll be a’rising
And the world is blest~
interlude with drum solo
God is overcoming impossibilities
interlude
Can you HEAR the worship and holy wonder
As crowds sing praise to the Lord on the hill
And Jerus’lem’s pilgrims are shouting hosannas
He rides on a colt, so the Word is fulfilled~
In the Temple cleansing
He shouts for attention
While chasing the changers
And their money machines
“It’s a House - for Praying, not a - den OF robbers”
He welcomes the children,
Lets the cripples come in
interlude
The priests and Pharisees
They plot to kill the King
It must be one– should die~ for all–
And all conspiracies they made–
Are founded on the de–vil’s call
short interlude
At dinner THEY– behold the Lamb—
“I am the Bread~, I am the Bread”
Signals help remember God–
“I’m the Vine~; I am the Vine
Do you believe~ I’m the Way~?
Do you believe~ I’m the Way~?”
interlude
The Man of Sorrows will be cursed—
In the night—, in the night—
The trial’s henchmen come to slay—
Verdict endorsed~, the Master must die—
Do you believe~ He’s the Way~?
Do you believe~ He’s the Way~?
long interlude
Let me tell how He was crucified
Out of love, yes, He laid down His life
He made intercession; the Word is fulfilled
Gave up His WILL and was killed—
Let me sing of the women who cry
In the streets as the Master goes by
The judges were “guilty,” the gutters run red
While the “FOOL” on the hill’s lifted high—
long interlude
So come on, you people
Who were FOR Barabbas
Pilate washed his hands as you jeered
You joined your voices in a hellish chorus
Mocked the King of nations who appeared
long interlude
Jesus gave up revenge as He bled
Saying, “Father, forgive them instead”
By the blood He would lose
We were bought for a price
Freed from our guilt and our dread—
Jesus suffered in hell for our wrongs
Crying, “My Holy Father is gone”
Though forsaken, the hour passed
Atonement is done and His
Spi-rit He gives back to God~
interlude
But on Sunday morning
In the gloomy garden
Romans guard His tomb with their spears~
AnGELic voices form a mighty chorus
As the Resurrected One appears
See His face is brighter, He’s alive with power
And the hour of glory draweth near
He appeared to Mary, then to His disciples
As He conquered death and all our tears
interlude
The cru-ci-fix-ion of – the King—
Soon begins—, soon begins—
For Judas will betray the King—
The sinless One—, the sinless One—
Do you believe~ He’s the Way~?
Do you believe~ He’s the Way~?
So, come hear the Master’s story
As it echoes through the ages~
His parables and miracles
They show us all the way~
The lost are found with merriment
Won’t you enter in the cove~nant
All the rebels are oBEdient
When Jesus saves the day~
short interlude
So now you know the riddle
Cuz He TOLD us His iDENtity
He’s more than just a prophet
Who’s come to share the truth~
We call JE-sus our Messiah
The Son of God and Sa~vior
He’s the King of all creation
He’s the Lord Emmanuel~
interlude
So you read the Lord’s message revealed~
The Word and His promise are – sealed~
But the wise men don’t know that it’s real~
They’re as thick – as a brick

Jethro Tull describes how critics viewed Jesus
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
Transforming, unconforming
Never boring, weary, winsome Preacher
Sharing Spirit-filling – lines
His critics falling over to give us all a – warning
“He’s really not the One who is to – come.
Well, who the world can he be
When he's never had a degree,
And he – doesn't even wash before He eats
Pro-testing, never-resting
He must be very cunning
To assume an air of dignity
And ‘mess’ us all – with his oratory prowess,
His sabbath scandals
And the magic tricks He shares
In every town, He acts the same
His parables are all a game that He’s conveying”
But you’re wrong, see
Believe, and you will – be in prayer

Babies are treasures
With their eyes full of good hope
All life is a strang~er
To whom they extend wel~comes
With a smile and a glimpse of
Pink knees and elbows
Their parents adore~ them
God made them import~ant
Babies– (babies)–
Babies– (babies)–
Of such are the kingdom
Receptive and hopeful
Invested with good~ health
The Spirit is call~ing
God’s favors un-numbered
And He’ll bless as intended
Each hour, and each min~ute
Oh, these babies are bless~ed

Lord, I need Your grace each night and day
Please help, callin’ to You I pray
Lord, I need Your grace each night and day
Please help, callin’ to You I pray
When your back's to the wall,
And you think that you’’ll fall
Then cry– to the Savior for grace
Seek help – and you’ll win, the vict’ry will begin
When fight–ing for life, to live everyday

Bungle in the Jungle
Jethro Tull reports on the Fall of Genesis 3
© 1998 by David J. Landegent.
Walking through forests, a paradise gar-den
Made by Jehovah, with no need for gar-ments
Made in His image, the – couple will fro–lic
Eating the fruits,
Except the Tree that gives Know–ledge
There lurks the devil, he waits in the shadows
He likes paraphrasing, his tongue’s a stiletto
Will they bungle in the jungle
Take a big bite from the Tree, yeah?
Will the couple try to be gods?
By the Snake, will they be– deceived?
“Question the Word, did the Lord really say that?
The Lord is afraid
You’ll know the good from the way – bad
Is it so frightening to have me at your shoulder
Fruit is enlightening, eating makes bolder
You’ll be just like God is, you won’t be a sinner
Just break the commandment today,
You’re a winner”
So they bungled in the jungle
Took a big bite from the Tree
Eve and Adam tried to be gods
interlude
The sinners are full, the fruit of disaster
For when they had bitten,
The Snake was their master
They gave up their life and, became only pawns
But the King of Creation, still says they belong
They must leave the Garden, and enter the gloom
But God will go with them,
Send help from the womb
Though they bungled in the jungle
Eve was promised Holy Seed.
God will make a, new creation
From the Snake, they will be– set free

Jethro Tull seizes the day with God
© 2000 by David J. Landegent.
Meanwhile back in the year – one
When you belonged to no one
You didn't stand a chance, son,
And the past was no fun–
Cuz you were bred– for insanity~
And sold~ – to society~
One day you’ll wake up – as a castaway~
A million genera~tions
Removed from expecta~tions
Of – being who you really want to be
Breaking away– breaking away–
Breaking away–
From the mid-NIGHT to the New Day~
So as you push off from the shore~
Won't you turn unto the Lord
And make your peace with God the Son?
For those who choose to pray~
Will live to seize the day
And do the things they should have done.
And as you cross the wilderness
And spinning in your emptiness
You feel you have to – pray.
Looking for a sign that the God of all mankind~
Has – written you into the Passion Play~
chorus
And as you cross the starting line~
Your sins all left behind
You’re a sprinter on the run.
And you run like eagles fly~
With the center of your eye
Fixed upon the Holy One
Well, do you ever get the feeling that you’re
Living in His will and in the present – tense
Know that: with the Lord you’re on the stage~
Make a difference, make a change~
Nothing happens by coincidence~

© 2006 by David J. Landegent
I’m amazed– by the gospel~
It opened– up the way
For there’s hope– from the holy throne~
He rose up– from the – grave
And the Savior is reaching, right out to us all
And it changed all the old things–
When – Christ tore down the wall
Did it by love– He revealed
When Christ tore down the wall~
He conquered the Fall~
Because of pride– and unholy sin
We were– once his foes
Without God– and His covenant
We were strangers– without hope
Though so far from His mercy~
He gave us a call
We were saved by the Lord’s grace
chorus – He conquered the Fall
For Christ is our Peace now
Who tore down the wall
And abolished the law and commandments
Well, the long-waited purpose
Of one peo–ple calls
The hostility’s gone~
We’re receiving one and all
Something is so wrong with people in chains
With all their arguments and their warrings
But with Jesus redeeming, He has made~ a way~
He is preaching to those– far~ and near bringing
Peace to us all
We’re no longer some strangers
In the – grace of the Lord
We’ve been built upon His foundation
On– apostles and prophets also, there’s no doubt
And the Cornerstone here
Is Christ– our~ salvation
Well, He’s the Lord and Creator
He’s the preacher of grace
So don’t you jump to your insane conclusions
Cuz He’s bringing the far near
From old, reckless ways
To be near– the Lord– so divine
Why not leave all your stunned~ confusion

Such a scan~dal, Lord–

Songs from the Wood
Jethro Tull shares his ministry of music
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
Let me bring you songs from the Lord:
To make you feel much better
Than you could know.
(Better than you could know)
Turn you round from tip to toe.
(Turn you round from tip to toe)
Show you how your faith can grow.
(Show you how your faith can grow)
Hold you steady as you go.
(Hold steady as you go)
Join the chorus if you can:
It’ll make of you a righteous – man.
It’s no fun being Jesus the King
When on the cross, you don’t belong
He bears the sinners on His bloody shoulders
Carries our sorrows for wicked wrongs~
Christ, while Your body bleeds
Does the grace still run deep in Your heart
Oh, oh
O won’t You change our lives
Show the way, sanctify what’s in the dark
Oh, oh
Won’t You, Lord, give hope
Just like the grass growing
Through the pavement today
Umm, umm
You bore it alone on the Holy Tree
All disciples left You in the gloom.
Let me bring you love that’s revealed
He was dead, but rose to make us born again
To heal the wounds and still the pain
That threatens again and again
As you call on Jesus’ holy name
Life’s long celebration’s here.
The Lord of all will give you cheer
Each drop of blood whispers Jesus is King
O Lord, forgive me for my wicked life
And our sins You’re bearing on the Holy Tree
Oh, the Sunday morn is coming.
Christ, you will arise.
Let me bring you all things divine
Living hearts & new songs served to tell the tale
Greetings well met fellow, hail!
He is the wind to fill your sail.
He bore the cross to take your nail
A singer of the ageless life.

Have you seen Jesus the King
With a thorn branch for a crown
He quietly hangs on the Calvary tree
As they rolled for His velvet gown~
He drinks from the Father’s wrathful cup
Forsaken by the One He knows
They mock His name and tear Him down
Yet He forgives ‘em: they do not know

Jethro Tull invites us to God’s forgiveness
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
By grace I’m invited– to sit at the table
Given forgiveness, debts have been paid
I love the Lord Jesus, who made atonement
So I must praise God on the seventh day
So come on, find forgiveness.
He gave His life – and the price was paid
Get ready, for forgiveness.
We worship the Lord on the seventh day
Worship the Lord on the seventh day.
interlude
All kinds of sadness I’ve left behind me.
Many’s the day when I have done wrong.
But I’m the Lord’s forever and ever
He made atonement and now I belong
chorus, interlude
Deep red is the blood that was offered by Jesus
Black were the sins of heart and of hands
We have been blessed by crucified mercy
Held by the grace that love understands
chorus without last line, then chorus again
Cup of Wonder
Jethro Tull takes communion
© 2000 by David J. Landegent.
Let’s partake the Lord’s communion
At the table, we’re empow’red
We accept His invitation
And remember Him this hour
God the Father sent the Savior
Bore the cross upon His back
Our Savior gave His life away
So we recall His saving act
Pass the Word of Christ the Savior
Pass the plate to all who hunger
Pass the bread, the body given
Pass the cup of crimson wonder~
Pass the cup and we’ll remember~
In the bread, we see the body
In the cup, the blood that’s shed
Seek communion with the Sa–vior
Pre-sent in the meal we’re fed
Christ has called us by His grace
So let the Secret – now be told
Once you’re resting in His palm
Never will He – lose His hold
Someday Christ will end the sadness
High in heaven, with the Lord
Here’s a foretaste of the banquet
When the world will be restored
Let the saints pray for the Great Day
Sing the songs till He comes back
The words of ancient gospels say
To eat this meal until He’s back

Jethro Tull invites us Galilee (see Isaiah 9)
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
Walking in Galilee, God’s light glowing
Are you prepared – for the light dawning
there
Shining – walking in Galilee
Walking in Galilee, see the light growing
Darkness was there, but it just can’t compare
Glowing – walking in Galilee
interlude
Won’t you join the company,
Yes, going to the land.
Go down to Galilee~ to a Holy Man~
Who provides us answers, sets the captives free
Tell your brothers that you found the light
In Galilee
One dusty three day’s ride~ up to the north.
There find your destination, God’s living Word
He is like a new Moses, with authority
Tell your brothers that you found the light
In Galilee
And the thousands go~ when the evening cools
And He restores the sight, over demons rules~
This Man’s healing everyone
The bound He’s setting free
And I’m going up to meet Him down in Galilee
interlude
Now– let me tell you,
That His love we’d better trust
His simple parables~ enlighten us~
Forgi–ven prodigals and farmers sowin’ seeds
He teaches what the people need in Galilee
He’s the Messiah~, Lord of the stars
And civilizations raging afar
And the holy dawn breaks – on the fallen dark
As you welcome in the Kingdom Come in Galilee

Hunting Girl
Jethro Tull walks the road to Emmaus
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
One day we walked the road
And crossed a field to go
Before it got too dark
Dejection on our face
We shuffled on in haste
Our life had gotten hard
And then upon our course
A Stranger then appeared
He would join us straight and indicate
He noticed how we looked so drear
We told Him how our Lord
Had died and now we mourned
Our hopes were dashed forever (ever, ever, ever)
The Stranger spoke right back
And said it’s not like that
And talked of God in heaven (heaven, heaven…)
Our hearts were warmed
As He explained the Holy Word
He helped us understand the Master’s Plan
To raise the Son who came to serve
The crucifixion?
His purpose – to die for our wrongs –
The resurrection?
The great exchange when death’s done, done
brief interlude
The cross of passion?
He took our sin as our priest –
The war is over:
The debt’s released, and there’s peace
There is peace – la– la, la, la
interlude
The Stranger took a seat
When we all stopped to eat
Because it was too dark
But when He took the plate
And broke the bread we ate
We gave a sudden start
The One who died was now alive
And He’s not a ghost
We saw the Holy Lord, and then
He disappeared, but showed us hope
To forgive your every sin~
I’m ready for the battle
I’m standing in the breach
I’m going to fix your dirty tricks
And you won’t elude my reach
My promise is a rainbow
It’s a sign of how I care~
So call My name and I’ll help again
You'll find Me everywhere, cuz I'm Je–hovah
When a robber’s undercover
To hide just what he did
I’ll bring into the open air
Expose the crimes you hid~
I see your deeds of badness
And lead you to remorse
But I won’t leave you in your need
And I WILL forgive, of course
chorus, interlude
IF you rise to heaven
You will FIND that I am there
IF you fall in deep seas
You’ll find I’ll hear your prayer~
When you’re lost and you’re losing
My love is all around
When beyond far horizons
Yet my presence will surround

Smile when under trial
You believe, you’re reconciled
Brush away that black cloud from your shoulder
Wisdom is revealed – God is really real
Another reason~ to grow a little bolder
At His birth, as the Father planned
The Lord became a man
Who every day would– learn some sympathy~
On every path and road you took
Well, He – never overlooked
You found out– that He came to save~
The Rover
Do you wonder if God really cares for you
Has He left you flounder in the deep?
And have you asked,
“What’s the purpose of the Father’s will–?”

Jethro Tull celebrates new life in Christ’s light
© 2006 by David J. Landegent
When the hardened heart was opened
It melted by the Spirit’s flame
And the first words of welcome
From the Savior came, oh, from the Savior came
When the new Breeze fluttered
All the staleness ended then
With our spirit’s lungs inhaling
Everything the Savior sent
And the long night awakened
And we soared on eagle’s wings
Circling our tomorrows
With the freedom of the King
See the shadows leaving
As the Son of God arrives
Lifting high the candles
So the light might shine
If we’re believing
God reveals a love that will not die
All our sin and sadness
Will be gone in the light of Jesus Christ
Oh, Jesus Christ
interlude
Lift your song – as the Master said
Let the candles burn, so the light is spread
And we’ll all shine together– with a holy fire
We’ll light the path ahead

© 2006 by David J. Landegent
To the hills I lift my eyes
“Where is help?” I must ask
My help is from the Lord on High
He– made the universe vast
And the Lord God never sleeps –
Watching over you and me
He will never slumber
The Lord will never fall asleep
Looks out for the little folk
He’s the all-night working God
He’s the One protecting men
Keeps the people in His hand
Oh, the Lord God never sleeps –
If you’re scared, then tell the Lord
Watching for what’s dire
Sun and moon can never harm
interlude
The Lord will do just what He said
His hand is like the shade
The Lord helps each and every day
He’s IN control; He won’t be late
No, the Lord God never sleeps

Know that you walk under God’s smile
The Lord God never sleeps
The Lord God never sleeps
