Course Description:
Algebra 1 is the study of the number system integrating graphs, variables, functions, equations, and
inequalities. Students are shown how to apply the language and principles of mathematics in real world
connects. Algebra I – Part I and Algebra I – Part II are the same courses as Algebra I only covered over a
two year time period.
Materials needed:
Textbook, notebook, and pencils

Classroom Behavior & Discipline:
Classroom Rules:
1. No talking while the teacher is instructing.
2. No food or drink allowed. (Water is allowed)
3. No swearing.
4. Homework will be done in pencil.
5. No cheating. (Copying someone else’s work or allowing someone to copy your work are both
cheating)
6. No sleeping.
7. Respect my belongings and that of others.
8. Textbooks are required to be covered at all times.
Tardies:
You are tardy if you are not in class at the end of the bell. (Unless you have a pass.)
*Consequences for tardies will follow those stated in the student handbook. The first three tardies are
warning.
Hall passes:
1.
You must have a pass to leave the room.
2.
You may not use anyone else’s pass.
Student Assessments:
Homework:
1. Homework will be given daily.
2. Each assignment is worth five points.
3. All assignments will be done in pencil.
4. Students will be given time in class to work. This time will vary from day to day.
5. No credit will be given for unreadable work.
6. Students must SHOW WORK. No work equals no points.
7. There is no such thing as late work. If it is not handed in during class time, no credit will be given
for the assignment.
8. All absent homework has two days to be completed.
9. Missing homework for school activities is due upon returning to class.
Notes:
1. Students are required to take notes.
2. Points will be given for completion of notes.
3. Notes will be checked before each test.
Quizzes:
1. There will be at least one, if not two quizzes per week.
2. All quizzes will be done in pencil.
3. Quizzes are worth approximately 10-15 points.
4. Students must SHOW WORK. No work equals no points.
5. Quizzes will be done neatly. Work that is not legible, won’t be given any points.
6. If you miss a quiz, you will have two days to make it up. It is your responsibility to make it up.
Test Reviews:
The test review contains problems similar to those on the test. The review is handed out the class period
before the test is given. The test reviews are worth five points.

The only extra credit a student may receive is either the bonus questions at the end of a chapter test or the
problem of the week. Don’t come to me at the end of the semester looking for possible ways to improve
your grade.

** I am here everyday by 7:00 am and here until 4:00 pm. If you need to make-up tests or quizzes, or need
extra help, you can come in at this time. Also, you may get extra help by signing out to the math lab during
study hall. I am in the math lab during 8th hour. The math lab will open September 1st.

Course Description:
Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus is intended primarily for the college bound student and provides mathematical
background sufficient for a college level beginning course in calculus and to perform in such a course at a
level comparable to his/her high school performance, if not better. For the student who does not intend to
take college mathematics beyond the required course level, Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus will provide the
background necessary for more students to pass out of these requirements. Topics treated in the course
include vectors, logarithms, trigonometry, analytic geometry, complex numbers, and the study of functions.
