Discount Tire Enters Kansas City Market with
Purchase of Land at North Oak Village
Sale completes development of North Oak Village by Hunt Midwest
KANSAS CITY, Mo – October 19, 2012 – Hunt Midwest Real Estate Development, Inc., in partnership with The R.H.
Johnson Company, announces that Discount Tire, America’s largest tire and wheel retailer, has purchased 1.21
acres of land in the North Oak Village Shopping Center, located at North Oak and Vivion Roads in Kansas City,
North.
The tire retailer will build a free-standing, 6,940-square foot store at 4831 North Oak Trafficway. The new store is
scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2013. While the company currently operates more than 800 stores, the
North Oak Village store will be the second Discount Tire location in the metro area.
Discount Tire purchased the last available lot in North Oak Village, a 33-acre infill retail development owned by
Hunt Midwest Real Estate Development. Chuck Zoog, CCIM with The R.H. Johnson Company, represented Hunt
Midwest/The R.H. Johnson Company. Other retailers and restaurants operating in North Oak Village include
Lowe’s, Office Depot, PETCO, Panda Express and Wendy’s. In addition, Pizza Ranch is scheduled to open in mid2013. Arby’s has also purchased a lot in North Oak Village and plans to construct a new restaurant there in 2014.
