All requirements below are based on the uniform provided by Dennis. IF you choose NOT to purchase your student’s uniform from Dennis, all items MUST be identical or very closely matching the Dennis Uniform specifications. If your child’s uniform does not meet the school’s requirements, he/she will be in violation of the uniform code, and you will be asked to purchase the item from Dennis Uniform directly. MINIMUM DAYS* School t-shirt with blue jeans (pants, not shorts) and white or black athletic shoes (Vans or Converse are OK). Outerwear on these days must be the school sweater or sweatshirt. * Exceptions: Hajj Simulation, MS Career Day, and as indicated by the administration. UNIFORM CODE 2014-2015 OUTER WEAR Heavy jackets of any color are permitted during winter but are not to be worn in the classroom. The ONLY lightweight outerwear which is permitted according to the uniform policy is the following: LOWER SCHOOL Navy blue cardigan sweater (button down) with school logo* Navy blue plain sweatshirt Navy blue sweatshirt with school logo Navy blue fleece (available through Dennis Uniform only) MIDDLE SCHOOL Boys & Girls Navy blue cardigan sweater (button down) with new school logo* Navy blue plain crew neck sweatshirt Navy blue hooded or crew-neck sweatshirt with school logo Navy blue fleece (available through Dennis Uniform only) * This item is REQUIRED ON FRIDAYS or FULL UNIFORM DAYS. SHOES The girls’ saddle shoe is available year-round at www.swinglindy.com in girl’s and women’s sizes. You can also find saddle shoes at Payless in the fall only either in the store or online at www.payless.com. SCARVES Girls must wear navy blue, red, or white scarves for prayer every day. Girls who choose to wear a scarf throughout the day must wear a navy blue, red or white scarf. Scarves worn on Friday must be WHITE. OTHER DRESS CODE GUIDELINES Hats/hoods/beanies are not permitted during regular school days; plain navy blue beanies with NO LOGO are permitted outside during cold days. Hair bands and large scrunchies must be navy blue, red or white or from Dennis Uniform in the school’s uniform colors. Hats are permitted on outdoor field trip days. Make-up and colored nail polish are not permitted. Girls may wear short earrings or studs; no hanging or loop earrings or other heavy jewelry. Girls cannot wear ANY jewelry during Sports Club activities. CLEANLINESS A code of cleanliness is expected for all students. Hair must be properly combed or brushed and kept away from the face. Boys’ hair must be kept trimmed to no longer than the base of the neck and cannot be placed in a ponytail. Hair dyed with non-natural hair color is not allowed. Students should bathe or shower every day. Nails should be trimmed. Clothing should be clean and free from noticeable stains. Shirts and blouses should be neatly pressed. Shoes should be cleaned and shined regularly. Daily use of deodorant is recommended for middle schoolers. “FREE DRESS” DRESS CODE Students have the privilege of periodic free dress days. Most free dress days must be earned. Students must exercise good judgment and responsibility when choosing clothing for free dress days. The following guidelines must be observed to insure that this privilege continues: Lower School Middle School No shorts for girls No shorts, capris, or crop pants for girls Crop pants (or capris) should be mid-calf Skirts or dresses must be mid-calf in length Skirts must be no shorter than just below the knee No tight pants or leggings No tight pants or leggings. No (very) baggy pants for boys No (very) baggy pants for boys Short or long-sleeved shirts for girls (no cap sleeves) No sleeveless shirts for boys or girls No sleeveless shirts for boys or girls Loose-fitting shirts Loose-fitting shirts No bare midriff or low-cut shirts for girls No bare midriff or low-cut shirts for girls No inappropriate messages on wording or clothing No inappropriate messages on wording or clothing No high heels No high heels If a student chooses not to follow the dress code according to these guidelines, he/she will be given a uniform notice, and free dress privileges may be suspended. Also, parents may be called to bring an alternative set of clothing to school. REMEMBER TO LABEL THE FOLLOWING ITEMS: TIES (GIRLS & BOYS), SWEATERS, SWEATSHIRTS & SHOES
