Hardware Installation of the Sweex PCI Wireless LanCard Fig. 9 An image will appear at the bottom right of your window (see Fig. 10). Take the following precautions before installing the hardware: Ensure the PC is switched off and is not connected to the power supply. 1. Also disconnect the printer and the monitor cables, so that you are certain that there is no voltage on the PC. Because the printer and monitor have their own power supply. 2. Then unscrew the computer case. 3. After unscrewing and opening the computer case, make sure you discharge any static electricity on you. Do this by touching e.g. an unpainted central heating or water pipe. When doing so, do not use a magnetic screwdriver. Once again touch the metal frame of the PC case. In addition, make sure you touch the contact points of the PC, card or memory as little as possible. 4. Find a free PCI slot and remove the metal protection cap inside the relevant slot in the computer case. It might be a little hard to insert the card into the PCI slot. If this happens, do not use force but try a different free slot. 5. Once the card has been inserted successfully, check that all the other cards are still inserted in their PCI slots correctly. Sometimes when inserting a PCI card, the other PCI cards are moved upwards causing the relevant card or even the entire PC to stop working. 6. Next replace the cap on the computer case and correctly reconnect all cables again. 7. Connect the aerial supplied. Power up your PC. Fig. 10 6 W W W. S W E E X .
