Volume 5, Issue 8 – April 1, 2017 Principal: Mrs. Jeni Buist PTA President: Annette Staffanson April Lincoln Elementary School Newsletter Dear Parents, From the Principal I hope you are all ready for Spring Break! It is definitely nice to have that break before our end of year adventures! We have some fun things planned for this month and we hope to see you all at the fun activities! Spring Break is next week April 3rd – 7th; Thurs, April 13th is the 6th Grade Panoramic Picture; Fri, April 21st is the Annual Leopard Lope. We will be having a Health Day here at school on Fri, April 21st in conjunction with our Leopard Lope. It should be a fun day! Look for fliers about the Leopard Lope coming home with your students, there have been a few changes this year and we have added some fun activities for that evening!! We will be having more changes in teachers next year than I had anticipated, but we are close to filling those vacancies and I should be able to let you know shortly who will be teaching in which grade. Because of all the changes, I postponed releasing the Parent Input Form until after I had a better picture of next year. Those forms will be available for you to complete after Spring Break. You can pick them up in the front office at the school. I will also be posting the teaching assignments as soon as they are complete. Please watch for those in an email, on our website, and on our Facebook page within the next couple of weeks. Remember, the Parent Input form is just that, an input form. Last year I was able to honor most of the input form requests, but I can’t guarantee that every year. There is a huge process to placing students in classes, so if you have an opinion at all, please fill out a form. It is very difficult to make changes in August after the classes are already in place. A couple weeks after we get back from Spring Break our students in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades will begin their SAGE testing. This testing will begin on Wednesday, April 19th and run through May 19th. Please make sure that your students are at school and well rested so they are able to perform to the best of their abilities on these tests. If possible, please make sure that your student is eating a good breakfast in the mornings. If you need help with getting a good breakfast, please contact the school and we can help with this. The tests are great indicators of growth in our students, and how we are doing as a school. As teachers and parents, we want to see our children making sufficient growth each year. We have amazing teachers at Lincoln and I have no doubt that our students have been given the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in all they choose to do! Thank you to the parents for all you have done to help your children succeed! Upcoming Events Apr 3-7: Spring Break!
