Chemistry Project: Meet the Elements
Everything around you, in fact everything in the
known universe is made up of elements. The oceans
and the forests, automobiles and clouds, stars and
planets, even your body and the air you breathe- all
are composed of fewer than 100 different elements.
What are these elements?
Your task: Create an element card that visually
represents your element.
For this project you will need to use the internet, resource books, and a copy of the
periodic table of elements to research your element. When completed, all element
cards will be assembled to create one class periodic table of elements. You will be
given a colored card for your project.
Part 1: Create an Element Card representing your element. Each card must
creatively display the following information:
 Name of the Element
 Symbol
 Atomic Number
 Atomic Weight
 # of protons, # of neutrons, # of electrons
 metal, non-metal or metalloid
 solid, liquid, or gas
 Discovery Information: Where, Who and When
 3 important uses with pictures or objects illustrating these uses
 Slogan that relates to your element’s uses
Part 2: Complete the Element Fact Sheet, on side two of your project card, for
your element. Use complete sentences to answer the questions.
Your project should be CREATIVE, COLORFUL, and NEAT.
