Today we will be finishing up this project! We will use the smudging tool and give it some more perspective. You
would need to understand the anatomy of the face and smudge it to get the cheek to have some more dimension
instead of a flat surface with shade casting down on it. Same goes for the rest of the face and body. This will be
then general idea of today’s guide. If any of you are still interested and ask me to, I wouldn’t mind helping with
backgrounds! But with that aside let’s get started.
You need to merge everything down into the flat color layer except the
lighting layers and get out your smudging tool. From here you will start
smudging enough to give it more perspective. Feel free to use a few
references for a better thought of it. If you make any mistakes you will
just have to hold you finger down on a color to obtain it and just shade it
in and then smudge again to your tastes. I highly recommend getting a
habit of using this tool so you wouldn’t really have to use the undo
button.
After doing the shading you will have to do the same with the lighting. Remember to use reference photos or examples incase your stuck on how something is supposed to go. After this you may add extra layers for any more
lighting necessary.
When you finish with this you will need to merge everything down and you may edit from there. Just any little
extras that bother you. By the way, for the hair, you just need to add a
lighter shade of the color of hair and let the lighting fade through from
there. For the back part it can just fade to black if you’re using black hair.
Anything different you should just use a darker shade. For an example,
you should use brown for blonde hair, or grey fading to black for white
hair.
After this you will have to use the lasso and cut out any other pieces that
you don’t need! If your lasso is having troubles like mine, you can use the
eraser. Nothing new.
This is just the general idea of what you should be doing. I do apologize for making this update excruciatingly
short, but fear not, I will be making a video in the next update!
I will list any further information down below and remember that if you have any comment, questions, or concerns, feel free to contact me! By this I mean any other help or references that you could work with! Just know
that you may ask me anything for help and I wouldn’t mind! Sorry for the short update! I really am. I promise
that the video coming up will show you. Few things that can help!
