is the equivalent of the scene performance and production notebook.

2. Answer the following questions in complete sentences:
a. What does this monologue tell you about other characters in the play?
b. What does this monologue tell you about events or themes in the play?
c. What kind of set and props would you use if you were directing this monologue? Why?
d. If you had to cut the soliloquy down to just five lines, what lines would you keep and why?
3. On your script, make notes of where it would be appropriate to move or interact with props.
4. Write a 1-page paper analyzing your character and their objectives and tactics in the
monologue: What does your character want? Why do they want it? How are they going to get
what they want? Be as specific as possible and remember that the higher the stakes, the better
the scene. Use at least 2 quotes from your scene to support your answers.
5. Memorize your monologue.
6. Perform your monologue in class or film it to present in class.
7. Write a one-page reflection of the rehearsal and performance process. Questions to answer:
o Were you happy with your role? Why or why not?
o How did you learn your lines? Was it difficult?
o What was it like to perform alone?
o Did this process help you better understand they play? Why or why not?
Item number 2 is due Friday, May 29.
You must be ready to perform the monologue (or show your film) on Monday, June 8.
All remaining components of this assignment are due on Wednesday, June 10.
Due to the nature of this assignment, late work will not be accepted.
