It is important your boutique stands out from the others in your
community and that you are attracting new customers. Your instore experience is one factor that will differentiate you from
your competitors. It is essential that you are showcasing your
inventory in a functional and appealing way to draw customers
in and keep them coming back.
Consider some of the following tips for how to display your
boutique’s inventory.
1
DON’T CLUTTER YOUR STORE
Because your boutique probably sells a lot of smaller merchandise, like
jewelry, trinkets, candles, etc., you need to make sure to display it in an
organized way. Shoppers can become easily overwhelmed when they
have to sift through all of your inventory. Consider having just one or
two of each item on display, and keep the extra inventory in the back
to clear up space.
2
DISPLAY COMPLETE OUTFITS
Give your shoppers inspiration for completing a look by displaying a full
outfit, shoes and accessories included! If a customer comes in looking
for a new top, she might be convinced to buy the necklace you have
paired with it on display. This is a great way to show off inventory that
might have been otherwise overlooked.
3
PLACE ADD-ONS ON THE CHECKOUT COUNTER
If you have cute rings or keychains that don’t seem to fit anywhere else
in your store, consider placing them on your checkout counter. You
know they won’t be missed when customers are making their purchases.
Just be sure to not have too much inventory crowding that space. The
checkout process is a time to collect customer information and form a
relationship, so you want it to be free from distractions.
4
ORGANIZE YOUR STORE BY CATEGORY
If your boutique sells home goods, then have a display area of just
home goods. Same goes for clothes, gifts, jewelry, etc. If people are on a
mission for a certain item, you want to make it easy for them to find. By
keeping your store organized you can set up displays that relate directly
to the kind of inventory you sell. For example, if you sell home décor,
display some of the accents on a coffee table to make it stand out.
