Annex A INFORMATION SHEET NATO PsyOps Working Group, NATO Bi-SC PsyOps Conference and NATO Information Operations Harmonisation Conference 27 March- 2 April 2011– Rome, Italy 1. Introduction. The NATO PsyOps Working Group (NPWG) meets bi-annually, and normally its’ spring session coincides with the annual NATO Bi-SC PsyOps conference. This year it has been agreed between the PsyOps and Info Ops communities of NATO to coordinate and synchronize these two events with the annual NATO Information Operations Harmonisation Conference (three events in one week in Rome) in order to further cooperation and understanding as well as to save funds and time spent on travel. For nations who have a lead or contributing role to the NATO PsyOps Enhanced Community of interest (NPECoI), a meeting will be held on Sunday 27 March 1330-1730 in order to prepare for the NPWG. The representatives of the different nodes should prepare a back brief of their work since the last Working Group and open issues to discuss. Outcome of the meeting will be a presentation of the progress of the NPCoI to be presented to the NPWG. Agendas for the events will be distributed in due time. A broad outline of the events are depicted below: Annex A 2. Joining Reports. Please register electronically for the events at this URL: http://www.aco.nato.int/PsyOpsConference.aspx Should you be unable to do so, the SHAPE POC’s can provide you with a format on request. 3. Venue. All events will be held at the Army Officer’s Club (AOC) at Circolo Ufficiali PIO IX, Viale Castro Pretorio n. 95, Rome, Italy. 4. Travel. All NPWG attendees are requested to arrive no later than Sunday 27 March, in order to register for the WG and to attend the hosted NPWG icebreaker in the AOC starting at 1900. The attendees of the Bi-SC PsyOps Conference are requested to arrive by Tuesday April 29th in order to register and attend the hosted ice-breaker in the AOC at 1900 hrs. Those who are attending only the NATO Info Ops HC should arrive on Thursday 31 March in order to register. a. From “Leonardo da Vinci” (Fiumicino Airport), the host recommends using Train to Stazione Termini. The train runs every 30 minutes, and the trip lasts 31 minutes. Tickets (16 €) can be bought at the airport, at the platform or online at www.trenitalia.com. Take a Taxi from main entrance (about 8 €) or Walk: exit to Via Marsala (right side going out of train station) 600 mt., about 15 min to the AOC. Please be aware that the shuttle train from the Airport to ROMA TERMINI RAILWAY STATION will stop its service at 23.37 hrs. From 23.37 hrs until 05.30 hrs only taxis are available to reach Rome. Taxi to Rome about 50 €. b. From Ciampino Airport (used mainly by low cost airlines), Bus non-stop (single trip 4 €) to Via Marsala (next to Stazione Termini) and then Walk (500 mt., about 10 min) or Taxi (about 8 €) to the AOC. Taxi to Rome about 50 €. c. There will be no organised transport made by the host, so participants need to make their own transport arrangements between their point of entry and the hotel on the day of arrival and departure. 5. Accommodation. For the conference hotels, please respect the cut-off date 13 February in order to qualify for the negotiated rates. Reservations made after this date will be subject to rooms availability. Should none of these hotels meet your requirements, a number of other hotels are located in the area. Please note that reservations at the AOC or Hotel Galles needs to be made through the host in order to qualify for the special rate. For all other hotels, arrangements needs to be made by the individual attendee. a. Spouses are welcome to accompany the attendees to the icebreakers, the official dinner and on the cultural event. There will be an Annex A additional spouses program on Wednesday (Participation fee 25.00€, lunch included) and Friday (walking in “Villa Borghese”, the finest park in Rome). 7. Welcome Package. A conference package containing conference and local area information will be available at the reception upon arrival. The POC’s will strive to populate the conference website with updated information, including agendas. 8. Dress. Civilian coat and tie is the preferred dress for the conference and for the official hosted dinner, including the Ice-Breakers. There are no requirements for any type of military uniform. 9. Conference fees. A WG 45.00€, Bi-SC PsyOps Conference 45.00€ and NATO Info Ops HC 35€, to be paid in cash during registration. Receipts will be issued. 10. Lunch. Lunch will be served to all participants at the Army Officers Club. Attendees with special dietary requirements should inform the host in advance. 11. Transportation. There will be no organised transportation between the hotels and the AOC. 12. Security. Attendees are required to show a valid ID card when entering the AOC. 13. Delegate Social Activities. There will be hosted ice-breakers on Sunday evening at 1900 and on Tuesday evening at 1900, both at the AOC. There will be a hosted dinner at the ACO on Wednesday evening at 1930 at the AOC. In addition a cultural event is planned for Thursday afternoon. 14. Internet. At the AOC, one computer is available for guest use in the reception area. There is no wireless network in the facility. For internet services in other hotels, please see the description for each hotel or visit their respective websites. 15. Medical and Dental. For any emergency needs, the conference cadre will be able to help coordinate travel to local emergency care clinics or a military doctor. 16. Further Information.
