grant from Travelocity’s
Travel for Good program to travel
to the upper Amazon region of Peru.
Clark joined the environmental group

TUDENTS ENTERING MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL in the
fall who want to participate in the Dallas ISD’s early start
program in August can find the applications at www

The 2010 Early Start program will take place Monday through
Thursday, Aug. 2–5 and 9–12. The 1,600 students who attended
the voluntary two-week high school program shortly before
school started last fall did better during the first six weeks of the
2009–2010 school
year and had better attendance than
those who did not.
The early start
program offers
the critical objectives that will be
covered during the
first six weeks of
class in math, science, and English
language arts to give
a running start to
students entering middle and high school. In addition to the academic advantages, students will get the chance to become familiar with their school, their teachers, and their classmates before
school begins.
The program also offers students a variety of fun enrichment activities that allow them to explore specific areas of interest. The instruction will be project-based with hands-on and engaging activities.
