Check out “Headset Trouble” on HCOS Rosetta Stone webpage if necessary. 2. Go to https://heritagechristiantotale.rosettastoneclassroom.com/en-US and enter your username and password on the left side. Note: Google Chrome is the recommended web browser (not Safari) 3. Click on “First Time Users” and then “Check System Readiness” to ensure your Internet browser and Flash plug-in are both up to date. When complete, close tab and return to the home page. 4. From the homepage, click on “Launch Rosetta Stone Foundations” and you will arrive on a page showing you a stamp you just earned. Once you close that window, you will arrive at the Foundations Home Screen as shown below. Here we go! Click on the appropriate level and unit you have been assigned (according to the course description) in Language Training and begin learning! Once you have completed your required time of Language Training (see below), click on “Explore” (under Games & Activities on homepage) and then choose between “Play” or “Explore” on the next screen. Students must make progress in the program as prescribed, alternating between Language Training and Games & Activities. (tip: the next recommended activity is shown at the top left of the screen or you can click “Start Lesson” in the blue box on the right) In addition, Live Tutoring sessions should be completed every three weeks. (Click on “Live Tutoring Schedule”) Prescribed Time Requirements Language Training Games & Activities Gr 5-9 (3 days/wk) 20 minutes (min) 10 minutes (min) Gr 10-12 (5 days/wk) 30 minutes (min) 15 minutes (min) Language Training is where you will learn the basics of your new language. It is important to do the activities in order because they build off one another. To meet the course requirements, each activity requires a green check mark before progressing to the next one. A red “x” means you have not met the minimum score required and you must repeat the activity. Games & Activities is a place to use the language skills you have gained in a fun way. As you complete activities in Language Training, the words used in Games & Activities will continue to grow, based on the vocabulary you have learned. Choose to “Play” or “Explore” everyday! Live Tutoring is a place for you to practice the language you have been learning. They will take place with up to four students (including you) and a live native-speaking tutor in attendance, with a one-way camera on the tutor (you can see tutor but they can’t see you). To successfully attend your session, you will need to: Have your own computer with a USB headset in a quiet place. Be ready 5-10 minutes before your scheduled session. Be prepared to participate! Live Tutoring is very interactive and the tutor will want to make sure everyone is speaking in the target language (no English will be spoken). Students must attend one Live Tutoring session once every four weeks. Please read “Live Tutoring Schedule” on the HCOS Rosetta Stone webpage for specific instructions. To check on student’s progress, please click on “My Reports” instead of “Launch Rosetta Stone Foundations” once you have entered your username and password. Make sure you have selected the correct Language Level. More details available on RS Guide for Students and Parents.
