This unit will provide pre-service teachers with an introduction to the underlying principles and
concepts of the disciplines of geography, economics and business. Through engagement with
the ACARA geography, economics and business curricula, pre-service teachers will develop an
understanding of the core content skills and processes relating to these fields. Pre-service
teachers will explore the geography of the Australian continent from both European and
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, and will engage in geographical inquiry
processes that investigate the interconnections and changes of the relationships between
people, places, economies and environment.
Through this unit pre-service teachers will engage with the discipline of geography, business
and economics to critically develop a Christian perspective of stewardship.
