October in Southern Europe presents an ideal climate for golf. 1 For couples where only one is a golfer, your partner will have the opportunity to explore some wonderful ports and experience some unique day trips. Of course, every port day does not involve golf. We have structured 6 games of golf over the 12 days with an additional optional golf game. There will be daily golf competitions and golf each day will be strictly limited to Trendsetter Travel clients and managed by Trendsetter’s two directors. Itinerary – October 2017 Day 1 – Tuesday 10 October - Lisbon Golfers are picked up from the hotel [ ] at 8.30 am and after a 30 minute drive play the Robert Trent Jones Pehha Longa Atlantic Course set in the mountains inland from Lisbon. Offers great elevation changes and some stunning views across the Sintra Mountains. Return to Lisbon and check in aboard Crystal Symphony. Day 2 – Wednesday 11 October - Lisbon Play Oitavos Dunes , Lisbon’s best golf course and consistently rated in the top 100 in the world. 2 9 pm Depart Lisbon Day 3 – Thursday 12 October – Oporto/Leixoes, Portugal 9 am arrival in Oporto. Depart for Oporto Golf at Oporto Golf Club, 2nd oldest golf club in Portugal and a 30 minute drive from the port. Oporto is probably most famous for its port wine. Tasting opportunities abound. After some wine tasting, the opportunity exists to wander through historic Ribeira, the recently restored riverside district and UNESCO World Heritage Site. 5 pm –depart Oporto Day 4 – Friday 13 October – La Coruna, Spain 8 am arrive in La Coruna, an ancient Spanish town Depart for a 15 minute drive to Real club de Golf de La Coruna. 5 pm – depart port Day 5 – Saturday 14 October – Bilbao, Spain 9 am arrive in Bilbao, the capital of the Basque region. Now home of the recently constructed Googenheim Museum, a must to visit. No golf scheduled but can be arranged upon request at one of the many great Bilbao golf courses. 12 mid night departure allowing a long day in Bilbao. 3 Day 6 – Sunday 15 October – St Jean de Luz/Biarritz, France 8 am arrival at the port of St Jean de Luz, in the heart of south east France. Depart for a 45 minute drive to Seignosse Golf Club, rated #2 in South West France and 11th in France. 5 pm - depart port Day 7 – Monday 16 October - Bordeaux, France (overnight) 6.30 am – arrive Bordeaux. Bordeaux, once France’s richest community and largest port. Now 2nd only to Paris as France’s largest city. Today it is known for its glorious chateaux, mouth watering cuisine and wines. It is surrounded by some of the world’s most famous vineyards including Medoc and St Emilion. No golf today but suggest an organised visit to St Emilion, some 45 minute drive from Bordeaux, and lunch at one of the many open air restaurants at this most historic and scenic town. Perhaps even a cycle ride through the many wineries. The port of Bordeaux is a short walk to the main shopping area of Bordeaux. No golf planned for your 1st day in Bordeaux. Day 8 – Tuesday 17 October - Bordeaux, France (overnight) Depart for Golf du Medoc (30 minutes) and play the Chateaux course, designed in 1989 by the famous American golf architect, Bill Coore, in the finest of Scottish links traditions. 4 Day 9 – Wednesday 18 October – Bordeaux, France Your 3rd day in Bordeaux has no formal scheduled golf but the option exists to play the Vines Course at Golf du Medoc. Depart Bordeaux at 6.30 pm. Day 10 – Thursday 19 October – Gijon, Spain Arrive in Gijon at 12 noon. With a departure at 6.00 pm, there is insufficient time for golf this day. Day 11 – Friday 20 October – Sea Day Your only sea day, cruising the Atlantic down the west coast of Portugal. Day 12 – Saturday 21 October – Lisbon Ship arrives in Lisbon at 6 am. Time for a leisurely breakfast and ordered disembarkation as you connect for your ongoing travel requirements. This may involve golf in the famous Algarve area of southern Portugal or the Costa del Sol in Spain or some days travelling in nearby Morocco with its many great golf courses.
