STUDY GUIDE FOR REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS OF THE PRELIMINARY WRITTEN ROUND The following are the study guide words for the Preliminary Written Round of the 2016 Paris Spelling Bee (PSB), which
will take place in central Paris on Saturday, 30 January 2016, at 09h30-12h30. There are no alternative dates for this
event.
To participate in the Preliminary Written Round, we must receive a completed registration form from you on or
before Wednesday, 13 January 2016. As space is limited, registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. We do not
accept registration by email.

complete, print, sign and mail the form by post with the registration fee as indicated on the form.
Most, but not all, of the 35 words in the Preliminary Written Round on 30 January will come from the list below.
Approximately 20 finalists will advance to the Oral Finals to be held on Sunday, 20 March 2016 at the American Library
in Paris (ALP). Finalists will be invited to participate in a mock event on Sunday, 14 February to learn contest rules and
useful tips about oral spelling bees. A new study guide will be provided to the finalists in preparation for the Oral Final
Round.
