Manufacturer of
Heavy Conveyor Belt
w ww.p riceru b b er.com
Our Specialty is
Tailor - made Belt
from any compound on any
fabric, made to width and length
to capacity of hauling equipment.
Exact specifications yield
maximum service in the most
demanding applications. Long,
one-piece rolls eliminate field
splicing.
Because belts are made to
width, they run true from the
start. Our special nylon
impression bottom gives extra
drive traction and helps free
frozen idlers for better
tracking and smoother, more
care-free operation.
It doesn’t get any
better than this!
Belts made to a minimum length
must be made slightly long. This
overage will be shipped, but invoice
will not exceed 2%.
Go i n g t o W o r k !
Practical trucking limit is 13' diameter x 50,000 lbs. Price
can manufacture one-piece rolls to 18' diameter x 100,000 lbs.

of recipes are written around
hundreds of ingredients, each
intended to contribute something to the finished product.
Rubber can be made soft or
hard, flexible or rigid, elastic or tough, alive or deadliquid, sponge, almost any
color and resistant to sunlight,
electrical current, sub-zero
temperature, heat, and many
chemicals and oils.
Rubber serves everywhere

Tensile is a measure of force required to break a material.
In rubber, generally a dumbbell sample with a 1/4” x 1/4”
cross section (neck) is broken and pounds per square inch are
calculated.
Elongation is the “stretch” of a material at break,
expressed as a percent of the relaxed original.
Modulus is a measure of force required to stretch a material
a particular amount. In rubber, generally a sample is
stretched 300% and the necessary force (pounds per square
inch) is calculated.
Durometer is a measure of hardness, measured with a
plunger and read on a gauge. A rubber band might read 35,
a tire tread about 60 and a shoe heel about 70 durometer.
Specific Gravity (mass) is weight, compared with
an equal volume of water (taken as 1.0).

American fabrics are numbered at AWT (Allowable Working Tension) of
1/10 of warp break in lbs. per inch of width (PIW).
Euro-Asian fabrics are numbered at AWT of 1/10 break of warp plus weft in
Newtons per millimeter (N/mm). One N/mm = .571 lbs. /in. Thus Euro-Asian
fabrics are numbered more than twice as high as American.

Many crusher superintendents
have used this belt for decades
where service is hard. Before
Hyflex was developed, it was
the best the rubber industry
had to offer. It still does an
excellent job on primary
crushers in handling the
heavy, jagged quarry stone.
This compound resists cutting,
tearing, gouging, and on Atlas
multi warp fabrics, these belts
yield more Tons per Dollar than
ever before!
Belts made to a minimum length
must be made slightly long. This
overage will be shipped, but invoice
will not exceed 2%.

PriceFlex Belt
Our best PRC #1 stock on Straight-Warp
Polyester Cord. Lashed together like a log raft, this
fabric is almost impossible to separate from the belt
covers.
Strong length-wise polyester cords have no
crimp, giving great strength with very little
stretch.
Cover stocks are pressed through the
carcass for a unique bond far beyond
plied belt.
High flexibility with rip and
impact resistance make this belt
hard to hurt. Lacings seat with
exceptional grip.
Preferred in hard applications,
this belt gives very long, trouble-free
service with little concern for early failure.

Nylon
Impression
Several of our large belt presses
are equipped with nylon carrier belts,
which leave a fine, gauzie texture on
the bottom of the belt at manufacture. This texture isn’t just pretty…
it serves a purpose. It will grip steel
drive pulleys better, often making lagging unnecessary. And, it will cause
reluctant idlers to turn rather than
drag. This decreases drag on the conveyor, and allows the belt to track more
accurately.
Best yet! It doesn’t cost anything!
We do it all the time. All you have to
do is ask!
H

T
for Extra
Traction
Operating belt temperatures are established by laboratory heat
aging for one week at the stated temperature, without significant
degrading of compound physicals. Belts may serve well above
these temperatures if they are operated intermittently, allowed to
cool on the return side, or “hosed” to reduce heat.
No elastomer will endure more than our #16 Chlorobutyl at
400º F continuous operation. Nylon and polyester fabrics will
melt at 500º F.

Elevator Belt
Bucket projection and the tug of bolts
on the belt carcass are limiting factors in
elevator belt service. Choose a carcass
strong enough to hold the bolts, not tear the
belt and drop the load.
Buckets handling large, lumpy
materials are spaced close together
and filled from a chute. Belt speeds
are slower than with digging
buckets.

Digging buckets are spaced apart,
usually travel faster and throw the
load at the top. Grain and light, free
flowing material are handled in this
way.
Special Belts
Price will produce any elevator belt specification.
If a belt under 24'' wide must be manufactured, an upcharge must be made because of trim. Many elevator belts
may be supplied from stock belts shown in previous pages.

The greatest wear on a belt usually occurs at the point of loading. The impact
of large, heavy, jagged and sharp materials can cut and gouge the belt covers,
particularly if covers are thin.
Limit the fall of material at loading. Load in direction of belt travel, and cushion the fall with baffle plates and cushion idlers to avoid scuffing. Use skirt
board at point of loading to avoid spillage, trapping of material, and overloading.
Continue the skirt board down the sides of the conveyor to limit spillage.

In the transition, the belt edge distance from troughing idlers to the face of the
pulley is greater than the belt center distance. The edge must stretch slightly not
to tear, while the belt center must compress slightly but not pucker or buckle.
These differences are compromised by the length of the transition and by proper
location of the troughed belt on the center line tangent.
Several adjustable troughing idlers are recommended between the last regular
idler and the face of the pulley, to support the load and to limit spillage.
The transition distances shown will accommodate virtually all
rubber belt constructions, including steel cable belts. Most belts,
properly installed, will give many years of –

Rubber can outwear steel many times over. An extra 1/16'' of rubber in the belt
cover can yield up to 25% longer belt life. More tons per Dollar!

...know your Stuff!
A conveyor belt does exactly what you make it do, no more and no less.
It has no mind of its own. It is not wayward and it does not hate you! It is
sympathetic and will tell you exactly what is wrong with your conveyor system.
Pay attention!
1. The belt splice moves sideways on the system as it makes complete rounds, generally moving a constant
distance off center, sometimes several inches up the troughing idlers.
The belt was not squared when spliced, causing the splice section to move sideways. Re-splice the belt
to make it straight.
2. The belt rides to one side of the conveyor, climbing the idlers and staying there.
The conveyor idlers or pulleys are not properly installed... pulleys are not perpendicular to the
system. Align the pulleys and idlers, one or more of which are askew or crooked to the belt
centerline.
3. The belt spins on the drive pulley.
Tighten the belt, lag the drive pulley or lighten the load.
4. The belt edges curl inward, forming a “pipe” on the top side of the conveyor.
The belt is too tight, the load too heavy, or the transition not long enough. Loosen the belt.
5. The belt stretches more than 2%, and tends to become more narrow or “necked down”.
Usually caused by tightening the belt to stop it from slipping on the drive pulley. Lag the pulley and
loosen the belt... it is telling you that the load is too great, and you are straining the carcass. Or, use a
belt with a stronger carcass.
6. The belt breaks.
The load is too great for the carcass... lighten the load or use a heavier belt.
7. Belt fasteners pull out.
The belt carcass is too light for the load or the fasteners were not properly installed. Re-lace
carefully and/or use a heavier carcass belt.
8. The vulcanized splice peels apart.
Improper vulcanizing job, due to incompatible raw materials, cured compounds, poor cements, or
improper cooking time/temperature.
9. The belt settles into the bottom troughing idler junction, soon wearing a sag strip in the belt.
The carcass is too light, the load is too heavy, and maybe the belt is pulled too tight and forced into the
idler junction. Loosen the belt, use a heavier carcass, or use idlers with staggered or offset rollers that
have no crevices between the rollers.
10. The belt drifts around on the conveyor system when empty or lightly loaded.
The belt carcass is too heavy (stiff). The conveyor belt must trough completely against the idler rollers,
or it cannot be controlled.

Fastener Metals
Steel fasteners are made from Carbon Steel, suitable
for most applications.
Stainless Steel fasteners are made from type 316,
providing extra resistance to abrasion, corrosion,
acids and magnetic fields.
MegAlloy (trademark of Flexible Steel Lacing Co.)
fasteners are several times more resistant to
wear and abrasion than steel. Not recommended
for corrosive situations.
Everdur (trademark of American Brass Co.) fasteners
are made from an alloy of Copper and Silicon.
They are spark-proof and non-magnetic; widely
recommended for grain elevators, flour mills, and
coal mines, where explosion is a constant hazard.
