PRAYERFUL HEARTS September 2016

PRAYERFUL HEARTS
September 2016
Dear Prayerful Hearts,
Years ago my friend was handed a license plate with the numbers “666”. I recoiled in fear. She
shrugged her shoulders and said, “It’s just another number.” This was the time of Star Wars Defense
System against Armageddon to be brought on by the Russians. My head was full of images influenced
by the books The Illuminati and The Stand. The end of the world was predicted and I remember hoping
it was true as I had a Math test after lunch.
Fast forward to Spring 2016. I sit with great anxiousness and trepidation along with other parishioners in
Sacred Heart basement and study the book of Revelation with Phillip Zimmerman and Jeff Cavins. I
didn’t know until then that the book of Revelation is a love letter to the Church that we all should read
and understand. Please join fellow parishioners September 13 th in the Seeking Truth Bible Study. The
Mass will come alive for you. There is no cost and I know you will not regret it. Bring your Bible. I
can’t wait to see all Prayerful Hearts experience and learn of God’s great love. Details in bulletin.
P.S. You will find out what "666" really means when you attend the Bible study. "
Sincerely in Christ,
Kristine

PRAYER TO OUR LADY OF SORROWS
(By Saint Alphonsus Maria de Liguori.)
September 15th Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows
I compassionate thee, O most sorrowful Mother!
Thy heart was pierced with a sword of grief when Simeon
foretold to thee in the Temple the ignominious death and the
desolation of thy Divine and most dear Son,
which thou west destined one day to witness.
By the great anguish of thy suffering heart,
O gracious Queen of the universe,
impress upon my mind,
in life and in death,
the sacred Passion of Jesus and thine own sorrows. Amen.

Our Lady of Sorrows
Hear our confident plea for our Holy Father the Pope,
for bishops and clergy,
for all who are engaged in religious or secular callings.
Bless your missionaries spreading the good news of salvation in lands afar.
Strengthen the heavily burdened,
revive hope in the despairing,
grant liberty to victims of injustice and persecution.
Impart wisdom to judges, civil servants,
and all who hold positions of leadership in the secular realm.
PRAYER BEFORE A CRUCIFIX
September 14th Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross
My good and dearest Jesus, I kneel before You,
begging and praying with all the ardor of my soul
to engrave deep and vivid impressions of faith,
hope, and charity on my heart, with true repentance for my sins,
and a very firm purpose of amendment.
Meanwhile I ponder over Your five wounds,
dwelling on them with deep compassion and sorrow,
remembering the words that David the prophet long ago put into Your
mouth, good Jesus, about Yourself:
They have pierced my hands and my feet;
they have numbered all my bones.

PRAYER FOR ONE AND ALL
Pray for the success of the Parish Festival September 11th
Blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
We recommend to you all persons dear to us.
We pray for the sick, the suffering,
the hungry, the homeless.
We pray for peoples of all faiths
and those with no faith at all.
Into your hands, Lord Jesus Christ,
I entrust these prayers for one and all.
I implore your compassion and mercy
for every known and unknown human need,
since all power is yours on earth as in heaven. Amen.
