Rising Sun’s Green Energy Training Services (GETS) is a preapprenticeship training program that prepares low-income
adults for careers in construction, energy efficiency, and solar
installation. Our primary goal is to help participants overcome
barriers to employment and achieve long-term economic selfsufficiency. Since 2009, the GETS program has trained more than
450 individuals, with an average job placement rate of 83% for the
Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 cohorts.

GETS is a 12-month program that begins with hands-on
training, combined with case management, job placement,
and employment retention support.
GETS Core class provides more than 240 hours of training
in basic construction skills, energy efficiency, applied math,
career exploration, and employment readiness. Our two week
Solar PV Installation class provides hands-on experience in the
field, as well as preparation for entering the solar workforce.
Rising Sun is an approved implementer of the nationally
recognized Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3) preapprenticeship certification, which includes 120 hours of
training that prepares participants for success in the building
trades.
After completing training, participants stay engaged through
one-on-one meetings with the GETS team, weekly job postings
emails, and monthly alumni workshops and events.
