This permit allows the plumbing contractor identified above to disconnect and/or connect East Lyme Water
Department meters and to turn on/turn off Department curb stops with the following stipulations.
STIPULATIONS
1. If the plumber plans on performing any of the work as described above, that they notify the Water
Department at (860) 691-4104 each time they perform the work or give the Department a list of properties that
they have done the work at on a DAILY basis.
2. If there is any damage to the meter, it is the responsibility of the plumber to pay the Water Department
for the cost of replacing the meter.
3. That the Department needs 48 hours notice (preferably a week's notice) to schedule seasonal turn on/
turn off work. If the notice is less than 48 hours, there may be an additional charge for the Water
Department to respond. The Department will do the best they can to schedule an appointment in 48 hours;
however there is no guarantee that we will be able to do so depending on our workload.
4. All requests for Water Department turn on/turn off's must be made through the Water Department office
so that they can be scheduled.
5. Only the Water Department should turn on/off the curb stop and we will be instituting a charge to
customers for all turn on/ turn offs going forward. However, if the plumbing contractor can't wait for the Water
Department personnel to show up, they may turn on/turn off the curb stop but they understand that the Department
still reserves the right to to charge the customer. The plumber assumes all responsibility for any damage
that may occur to the curb stop. If the plumber performs the turn on/turn off service, they need to notify the
Department at (860) 691-4104 at the time of each turn on/off so that we know that the work was completed.
6. There is no cost to the permit at this time.
7. Failure of the plumber to follow all of these stipulations may cause the Water Department to revoke the
permit.
