New Fasson high tack adhesive for film labelstocks offers a powerful
combination of performance features
Avery Dennison Roll Materials Europe have introduced a new high-performance permanent grade to
their portfolio of specialty adhesives on Fasson-brand self-adhesive film labelstocks: Fasson S4700.
Fasson S4700 has been formulated to deliver high tack and adhesion on rough and textured surfaces,
‘difficult’ container shapes, and for applications where high initial tack is critical. It is currently available
from stock on two popular film labelstock qualities: Fasson PE White and Transparent and Fasson PE
100 Top White and Transparent. Fasson S4700 can be converted (and successfully diecut) at high
speeds, without any of the problems associated with ‘traditional’ high-tack adhesives. Converted
labels can also by applied on today’s high-speed dispensers.
An acrylic-based extra-permanent adhesive, Fasson S4700 is particularly suitable for labels on
industrial chemicals, car care products, and agrochemicals, where rugged adhesion is important for
the life of the product. Its good wet-out characteristics ensure a smooth finish for applied labels – and
the adhesive is also therefore suitable for use on personal care and household products where
aesthetics, as well as function, are important.
Fasson S4700 is available via the Fasson Exact service programme on Fasson PE100 White and
Transparent with BG42 glassine liner, and via the standard service programme on Fasson PE Top
qualities (also supplied with BG42 liner). Samples and product details are available from Fasson sales

Adhesive performance
S4700 is a clear permanent adhesive featuring excellent
initial tack, adhesion, "wet-out" performance even on apolar
surfaces such as HDPE. Improved temperature water,
solvent and chemical resistance. The adhesive complies
with FDA 175.105 and with BFR XIV recommendations for
direct contact with dry and moist, non-fatty foodstuff.
Applications & use
The product can be used for detergents, homecare,
industrial chemicals, agrochemicals, car care (cleaners,
polishes, waxes), oil and DIY (Do-It-Yourself)-products.
Most of these markets use PE containers with a textured
surface. This requires high initial tack to achieve immediate
grab to the container during dispensing. This also makes
the product suitable for high-speed dispensing.
In cases where S4700 is used in applications where
expansion and contraction of the container occurs due to
temperature fluctuations as a result of extrusion and/or high
temperature (> 35 °C) filling, please contact your local TMM
representative for advise and support.

The modified acrylic based topcoating allows printing by the
conventional printing technologies including letterpress,
flexo, gravure and screen printing, giving good results with
solvent, UV curing and water based inks. In case of solvent
screen inks please consult your ink manufacturer. Good
acceptance of hot foil blocking. Material shows excellent
register stability on press and excellent flat bed conversion
while rotary and magnetic dies need additional care.
Due to the extensible nature of the face substrate care
should be taken with die specification, sharp dies are
essential. Automatic application: For optimal dispensing,
due to the flexibility of polyethylene, a relatively high backing
paper tension and a sharp applicator beak are
recommended.

A business development opportunity for your company?
The Fasson Durables range of specialty labelstocks represents an excellent opportunity to enter a
high-value labelling application segment – without changing your labelstock supplier. And with a

costly labelstock inventory!
The core application area for Fasson Durables is identification or warning labels on electrical and
electronic goods – for example car components, computers, dishwashers, mobile phones, etc.
Fasson Durables’ heat-resistant facestocks (which also resist chemicals and water) are printable both
with the traditional narrow-web processes AND thermal transfer print. The specially-formulated
adhesives stick permanently to a wide range of substrates, and under extreme environmental
conditions.
As well as being listed in the automotive industry’s “IMDS database”, all Fasson Durables are
approved to the internationally-accepted UL969 safety labelling standard for electronic and electrical
goods.
So, as you can see, the Fasson Durables range is a ‘one-stop shop’ for converters supplying labels to
durable goods manufacturers – and with such a low minimum order quantity and 24 hours lead time,
it could be a ‘no risk’ way of developing new high-margin business!
