Thank you for the $50 Walmart gift certificate from last year. It was used to purchase new lights for the
Christmas tree. Thank you for the crucifixes that were donated. Also, thank you for the supporting the
grade 4 field trip through the raffle and the sparkle box decorations. The sparkle boxes will be sent
home on December 19th so that as a family you can read out the gifts given to Jesus on his birthday.
The school is creating programming based on student choice. They will be introducing this mid-January.
Grade ones will get to choose from: drama, music/drumming/dance, art, and technology (building a
story/slideshow). Grade twos will choose from: drama, music/drumming/dance, Acadian art. Grade
threes will choose from: drama, music/drumming/dance, art (henna/culture), and technology. Grade
fours will choose from: drama, music/drumming/dance, and journalism. The programs will start in
February and run until June with a cost of $10 per student. The program will run on Thursday and Friday
afternoons.
There will be a new ECS program offered at EPK next year. There will still be the morning 5 day/week,
afternoon 5 day/week and they will also be offering a progressive immersion program 5half days/week
and full days in April, May and June. Parents would be required to pay during those three months. The
approximate cost will be $385/month. This can be paid throughout the year. Registration is now
available. We need 16 registrants to run the program. If you are involved in a daycare that a poster
could be put up to advertise this program, please see Mme. Gravelle.
EPK would like to have a French Immersion Pre-School and is looking to see if anyone in the community
is interested in running this program. Please contact Mme. Gravelle if you or someone you know is
interested.

There are programs that run at lunch including: Dinner music, Worship Band, Dance, Intramurals,
Stamping Club, Crochet for Christ (coming up during Lent). The worship band students will be
performing at a Seniors Home next week and a couple of the grade four students played at the school
mass at the church last month.
The Advent Celebration is going to be great. The school will get any donations brought to the school to
the Food Bank, the Strathcona Christmas Bureau, the Stollery…
The school will be celebrating Parlez Français with a carnival perhaps held in January – when the jar is
full. There will be a dance in the gym, wii/just dance, art, computers, outdoor play. Parents are invited to
help by supervising.
OLPH would like to help with the expenses of peer partners. Parent Council will communicate expenses
to them.
There will be a workshop on Anxiety coming up soon. Staff will choose students they feel would benefit
from these discussions.
Lenten Project – rather than giving something up for lent, students will be encouraged to do things to
raise money for a refugee family sponsorship. The school will also have the opportunity to communicate
with the family we are sponsoring.
Table clothes for the classrooms were found, so there is only a need for 5 now.

Jody spoke with Erin Diloreto about what the yearend event will look like. It will have a model similar to
previous years with a charge for families to attend. There will be raffle baskets, food trucks, inflatables,
zipline. The event will be held at OLPH school this year because of the ability to close the road. They
would like to have a priest come and do a blessing at the beginning of the evening. They are going to
wait until February to book. Leslie Gushnowski will come to both executives on a case by case basis
when booking. By February, there will be a budget and more details to share. Someone will need to look
into insurance and ask for volunteers from ABJ students.
Spirit Day in January is pajama day.

From now on if busses are not running on hot lunch day, it will be rescheduled for the next
Monday.
New schedule should be coming out soon
The caring corner provides for students in need. They can go to the office if they forgot lunch or
not enough lunch was sent. There are also mittens, toques, pants, etc available for students who
need them. The stalking of this is done by some lovely volunteer parents. If you would like to
contribute, please bring your donations to the office or contact parent council. They can always
use extra pants at the office in case of accidents.
New Business

The Hair Massacure – the school will be participating in the hair massacure this year. Students are invited to

at all, they can donate their hair (if it is not coloured and is 12” long), they can wear a pink hair extension or pink
nail polish… A presentation will be happening on Monday, January 12th.
