Developed the curriculum and content of all Spanish, French, Latin and German classes. Started the Foreign Language Elementary School program in Spanish at Lakeside ES. Henrico High School, VA August 2000-January 2005 Middle Years Program /International Baccalaureate (MYP/IB) Spanish Teacher/Foreign Language Department Chair: Taught MYP/IB Spanish teacher at Henrico High School, which included teaching regular Spanish I and IIII, in 2000-2001 and MYP Spanish II, III and IV, and IB Diploma Spanish V and VI Higher Level from 2001 to 20005. Responsible for promoting vertical planning, assessment and communication with the Foreign Language Departments at George H. Moody Middle School and Douglas Wilder Middle School. Awarded Best Teacher of the Year for Henrico High School in 2002-2003. Had the highest MYP assessments (10th grade) and IB Diploma Standard and Higher Level exams scores f(12th grade) for the whole IB program at HHS in 2002-2003 and 2003-2004. IB Responsibilities: IBD 11th Grade Team Leader at Henrico High School: Conducted meetings with all IB 11th grade students to discuss assessments, grades, overall achievement and the Extended Essay (EE) responsibilities. Met with all the 11th grade teachers and parents to discuss same issues above about all the 11th graders. Extended Essay Coordinator at Henrico High school: Developed the timeline and set expectations of the 11th graders’ Extended Essay responsibilities. Monitored students’ performance on the EE, meet with parents about the EE performance, met with students at the VCU library during the summer to assist them with resources, collected the essays and reviewed for paperwork completion prior to submitting them to Cardiff, Wales an other locations for scoring in the world. Trainer on Guiding Questions and Assessments for new MYP/IB teachers for George H. Moody MS and Henrico HS: Led presentations on the MYP/ IB Guiding Questions and Assessments for new MYP/IB teachers. Summers 2003 and 2004. 2003-2006 MYP Moderator in Cardiff, Wales, and Montreal, Canada. Scored assessment tasks from MYP/IB schools all over the world and wrote moderation reports, from April 2003-April 2006. The feedback was the official IBCA (IB Cardiff Office of Assessment) report sent back to the MYP/IB schools on the 10th grade assessment tasks submitted. MYP Moderator in Cardiff Wales: Assessed “Monitoring of Assessments” for schools that are yet to be authorized as MYP schools and seek feedback on their Spanish academic performance. Spring 2005. Monitored the schools’ assessments and wrote the reports. MYP Workshop Leader for IBNA (IB North America): Responsible for training MYP/IB Spanish teachers from the US, Canada and Mexico. Led nine MYP/IB workshops in Denver, Co, Montreal, Canada, Houston, TX, Myrtle beach, SC, Corning, NY, Atlanta, GA, Long Beach, CA, Princeton, NJ, and Los Angeles, CA, from August 2003 to July 2005.
