Fabric Requirements:
QT1201 – 14 Red and Green – 1 ¼ yards
QT1202 – 14 Red and Green – 3 yards
QT1203 – 31 Gold – 1/3 yard
QT1203 – 401 Green – ¾ yard
QT1206 – 31 Gold – 1 ¼ yards
QT1206 – 99 Black – 1 ¼ yards
QT1316 – 19 Dark Red – 1 yard
QT1316 – 99 Black – 1 ½ yards
Solid Black – (Outer Border and Binding) – 1 ½ yards
QT1203 – 99 Black (Backing) – 4 ½ yards
Cutting Instructions:
QT1201 – 14 Red and Green:
Fussy cut one (1) – 16 ½” X 16 ½” square (making sure that there is a black square ¼” form
each corner) Finished square will look like the below picture.
Fussy cut eight (8) – 4 ½” X 30” strips (make sure that the black squares are ¼” in on both
sides of the strips) Finished strips will look like the below picture.
QT1202 – 14 Red and Green:
Fussy cut four (4) – 7 ¾” X 54” Strips (Cut from the length of fabric in the center of each Red
design as shown below:
Fussy cut eight (8) – 2 ½” wide strips, cutting in the center of the Red section to the edge of
the Green section as shown below:
Fussy cut points in the center black so that you have a red strip and a green strip. You will
need eight (8) Red strips approximately 25” long, forty-eight (48) Red strips 10 ½” long and forty-eight
(48) Green strips 10 ½” long.
QT1203 – 31 Gold:
Cut two (2) – 10 7/8” X 10 7/8” squares. Cut each of these squares in half diagonally creating
four (4) triangles.
QT1203 – 401 Green:
Cut fourteen (14) – 1 ½” X WOF (Width of Fabric) strips.
QT1206 – 31 Gold:
Cut twelve (12) – 10 ½” X 10 ½” squares.
QT1206 – 99 Black:
Cut twelve (12) – 10 ½” X 10 ½” squares.
QT1316 – 19 Dark Red:
Cut eight (8) – 3 ½” X 25” strips.
QT1316 – 99 Black:
Cut eight (8) – 2 ½” X WOF strips
.
Cut four (4) – 1 ½” X WOF strips.
Solid Black:
Cut nine (9) – 2 ½” X WOF strips and
Cut eight (8) – 1 ½” X WOF strips.
Piecing Instructions:
Using the mitered border instruction below sew the four (4) fussy cut QT1202 – 14 Red and Green
strips to the sides of the fussy cut QT1201-14 Red and Green center square.
Mitered Borders:
a. Place a dot ¼” in from each side of each corner. Mark the center of each border strip and
mark the center of each side of the quilt.
b. Pin each border strip to the edges of the quilt. Start pinning the center of the border to
the center of the side of the quilt. Pin out from the center ending at the ¼” dot. Pin all four
borders in the manner.
c. Sew the borders to the quilt, beginning and ending at the 1/4” dots. Press the borders
toward the quilt.
d. Fold quilt in half diagonally right sides together. Match the raw edges of the borders.
Pin the borders to keep them from shifting.
e. Place the 45 degree angle on the ruler on the stitch line and the edge of the ruler on the
folded edge of the quilt. Draw a line on the border extending from the beginning stitch
to the edge of the border. Sew on this line starting at the dot where you began and
ended sewing the borders on.
f. Remove pins, open and make sure that your miter is correct.
g. Refold and trim ¼” from sewn line. Press seam open. Repeat for all four corners.
Measure the length of the quilt. Make two (2) – 1 ½” X this length – QT1316 – 99 Black strips. Sew
these strips to the sides of the quilt. Measure the width of the quilt. Make two (2) – 1 ½” X the length
strips. Sew these strips to the top and bottom of the quilt.
Sew one (1) - 3 ½” X 25” QT1316 – 19 Dark Red to each short side of the QT1203 – 31 Gold
triangles. Baste the Fussy cut QT1202 – 14 Red and Green Red 25” strips to each of the Dark Red
sides of the above triangle. Applique the points down using your favorite method. Sew one (1)
QT1201 – 14 Red and Green strips to each of the Dark Red with the points attached sides. Trim so
that all the strips are even with the QT1203 – 21 Gold triangle. Sew each of these sections to the
sides of the center block.
Measure the length of the quilt. Create two (2) – QT1203 – 401 Green strips this length. Sew these
strips to the sides of the quilt. Measure the width of the quilt. Create two (2) – QT1203 – 401 Green
strips this length. Sew these strips to the Top and Bottom of the quilt. The quilt should now measure
50 ½” X 50 ½”.
Created twelve (12) – QT1202 – 14 Red and Green – Red points squares as shown below:
Applique these sections onto the twelve (12) – QT1206 – 99 Black – 10 ½” X 10 ½” squares.
Created twelve (12) – QT1202 – 14 Red and Green – Green points squares as shown below:
Applique these sections onto the twelve (12) – QT1206 – 31 Gold – 10 ½” X 10 ½” squares.
Sew three (3) Black Squares and two (2) Gold squares together alternating the colors. Sew these
strips to the sides of the quilt.
Sew three (3) Black Squares and four (4) Gold squares together alternating the colors. Sew these
strips to the top and bottom of the quilt.
Measure the length of the quilt. Create two (2) – 1 ½” X this length QT 1203 – 401 Green strips. Sew
these strips to the sides of the quilt. Measure the width of the quilt. Create two (2) – 1 ½” X this
length QT 1203 – 401 Green strips. Sew these strips to the top and bottom of the quilt.
Measure the length of the quilt. Create two (2) – 2 ½” X this length QT 1316 – 99 Black strips. Sew
these strips to the sides of the quilt. Measure the width of the quilt. Create two (2) – 2 ½” X this
length QT 1316 – 99 Black strips. Sew these strips to the top and bottom of the quilt.
Measure the length of the quilt. Create two (2) – 1 ½” X this length Solid Black strips. Sew these
strips to the sides of the quilt. Measure the width of the quilt. Create two (2) – 1 ½” X this length Solid
Black strips. Sew these strips to the top and bottom of the quilt.
Layer, Baste, quilt and bind your quilt using your favorite method.
