My Mom has helped me with my homework and
problems when they need to be solved. She is very
pretty, tall, and has brown hair and brown eyes.
She always hugs us when we are sad or hurt. She
is very special to me and I love her so much.
Earlier this winter, a Forum columnist challenged readers to write a letter addressed to
people of importance in their lives. I challenged my students who have written the following V.I.P. essays. Their family members were treated to a special gift from the heart.

I love my Mom. My Mom takes care of me. She
loves me. My Mom gives to charity. She helps
out at the YWCA. She was also the coach for my
baseball team. My Mom is the best mom in the
world!
I love you Dad, because you always are there to
help me when I need you. I really like it when you
help me with my homework and play catch with
me. I love it when you play hockey with me at
practice and games. I like that you taught me to
skate when I was five. I love it when we watch
Sioux hockey together! I think I’m really lucky to
call you “Dad!”
I love my Dad very much. He likes rock music.
He also likes the Minnesota Vikings and hockey.
He has cooked food for me and taken me to my
hockey games. He is a very special person to me.
He is my only dad. I appreciate everything he does
for me!
My mom is very awesome. She is loving, caring,
careful, and nice. My mom has a nice smile and
a cute nose. She is funny, friendly, and generous.
My mom helps me with my homework and she
feeds my dog when I’m at school. I can’t ask for a
better mom because she helps me with so many
things and I think she’s the best mom ever.
