The deceased male was dressed in a full wet suit, complete with scuba tanks on his back, flippers, and face mask. Best: Cheetham, Sherwood, D.Gray, Newman, Dall We live in a world that is success driven. Everyone likes to be in front at the end but is that the only way to gauge it? Is a man successful when he comes to a new country and throws himself into a crazy game? Or how about coming to a new town and getting involved in the footy club? How do we define success? The Hawks lost again, by five points to a deserving and hard running Nukarni side, the question is however, were they unsuccessful? Is it unsuccessful when a club legend like Ben Hunter provides great direction for his teammates, wonderful ball use and even more impressive ball winning when his team needed it the most. The Ressies started against the top of the table Demons with a young and inexperienced side. The two pronged attack of Clint Butler and Danny Gray proved it would be a handful but it was the delivery that would be the challenge. This delivery was provided by a midfield that was dominated by two blonde tyros. The first, Jesper Dall. Jesper has only been in Australia for a short amount of time but he is fast developing his skill in the indigenous game. Against the Demons he was hard at it on his wing and never went to ground. His work with the ball was clam and complete and sent the Ressies forward time and again. Is it unsuccessful when Mike Mortimore returns from a long term injury with a performance on the last line of defence which is full of desperation and commitment to the cause. Is it unsuccessful when seventeen year old Mitchell Pollard wins several contests, against men who are bigger and quicker than he is, by focussing purely on the ball. Is it unsuccessful when a playing coach of only twent five years of age provides superior ball use and shows wonderful audacity in his willingness to take the game on through the middle of the ground? The answer to these questions is not for this reporter to offer but for those of you in Hawks Nation to decide for yourselves. Football is however such a testing and tough game that while a win on the scoreboard is what we are all after it is simply unfair to use that is the only gauge of success. Jesper's blonde partner in crime was Jake 'Sunshine' Newman. Jake has only been in town for a short amount of time and if not for an argument with a skateboard would have played more footy for the Hawks. On Sunday he was dominant around the contest and running away with it. This fast ball movement coupled with the Nukarni 10-9 69 growing dominance of Gray and Butler delivered a Hawks 9-11 65 big win for the Ressies. Best: Hunter, Bain, Duncan, Mortimore. Our full backs were good at clearing the ball which helped us out a lot. The half backs did well at sticking on their wing so it was harder for them to pass out wide. Everyone else did well at their position to help open the space up on the field to go down and get a goal. Our goal scorers were Samantha with 5, Breanna with 2, Sara and Tye with 1. Our defence of Nearly and Well it was a win and that is good but given what a Mudge (aka Tenille and Amanda) have been building great season we have had, this was not the highest a great combination after coming back together as a standard game! We had a couple of key position team and they had a fine four quarters. There were players out and this meant players were out of some great positives to come out of the game, position. Not sure it should have affected our ability confidence in our passing and leading, the set plays to pass but apparently it did! I am guessing that one working 95% of the time and great team work. Holly bad game is ok in a season but lets hope that is it! (with a half at GS), Taylor, Bron and Sapphire are all Great game Eden, really top work and good support building stronger connections and although we have by Anita! In general, not our best effort and one to still have work to do, developing strong team work forget, but we have had a great season to date so it and confidence at this time of the season is just what is not time to panic! With Em back for the rest of the we need. If we could do one thing better in attack, it games and hopefully our reliable GA in Shezza J I am would be to drive stronger and harder for the ball – backing you guys to come out firing on Saturday and we have some timidity in our leads at times, as if we have a game of great skills and team work – just like are not sure if we should actually go or not! We will you know you can! once again have to be tough onto the ball and work hard at playing as a team this weekend against Narembeen 3 (50) defeated Kulin 2 (16) Hyden. Checking that score line out it is amazing to think that we were down by 3 at quarter time and that the Don’t forget: opposition had 11 goals from memory! Great * Training – it really is not negotiable! defence by all concerned to keep them to just 5 * Set plays and signals! We cannot have people on goals for the remainder of the game. Take a bow Lauren, Vanessa, Em Jones and Beck J It was terrific the court that do not know these – that is what makes us a team! ! listening to instructions by all to adjust the attack after quarter time to give ourselves more scoring Juniors 25 The Fence Post 6 July 2016 NAREMBEEN MEN'S DART ASSOCIATION RESULTS * BRUCE ROCK 8/07/2016 FTROOP ROYALS JET S MAGPIES REBELS HIGH SCORES [101+]: G BROWNLEY [120], K COLLARD JR [125], G BOND [138], M HIGGINS [140], J GALICINAO [140], L BROWN [125], M DARBY [180], K BUTLER [125], S BIDDULPH [120], D HOUSTON [138], G COLE [135], C ROISSETTER [140], W PATTERSON [125], A NATION [125], G HIGH AVERAGES [50+]: BEST OVER AVERAGE: CLUB '100': G BROWNLEY [1], K COLLARD JR [1], G BOND [1], J GALICINAO [1], L BROWN [2], K BUTLER [1], K WOLFENDEN [1], M DORLANDT [1], L PEG-OUTS: G BROWNLEY [2,16,18], K COLLARD JR [-,-,8], G BOND [13,20,-], M HIGGINS [-,51,-], J GALICINAO [40,-,32], L BROWN [-,-,4], S McCONACHY [-,,40], M DARBY [103,-,24], K BUTLER [-,-,40], K WOLFENDEN [-,-,45], D HOUSTON [-,-,22], G COLE [-,-,32], R COLE [-,-,20], G HILLS [-,10,10], M DORLANDT [-,8,32], R KING JR [-,16,-], R GEORGE [-,16,34], L HILL [-,16,-], M DOVE [-,16,-], R BAMFORD [-,-,20], D COLE [-,-,2], G LOADER [4,-,-], M BROWN [-,-,4], P KAVANAGH [4,-,-], J ANDREWS [-,-,8] TEAM POINTS POINTS FOR POINTS AWAY PERCENTAGE F-TROOP 30 116 71 163.38 REBELS 20 105 82 128.05 MAGPIES 20 102 85 120.00 ROYALS 20 94 93 101.08 JETS 6 72 115 62.61 BRUCE ROCK 6 72 115 62.61 Note: All players, please ensure that your name has been spelt correctly on game sheets. The king of the Cups returns. The winner of the B C Cusack Cup is Wayne Gould who seems to really rev himself up when a Cup is on the line, having won several Traders Cups and now two of B C’s. He won, with a score of 40pts, with R/ up on c/b Brendan Parsons 39 from G Jones and B Repacholi. The gross winner with a super score of 38 was G Jones from Muckinbudin and S Tillamans was R/up on 32. successful weekend. The course was much complimented on and the weather held off—we were soooo lucky. Last Wed the ladies played a stableford and the winner with 37pt was C Currie. Well done Carol. R/up on a c/b was J Cusack with 37pts too. We all worked hard and worked up a great appetite knowing J McGregor was on arvo tea and were licking our lips. Alas “Light and Easy” was on the menu and a revolt ensured. Needless the lack of party pies ensured it The winners of the 4BBB combined Traders’ Cup nett got ugly! were W Gould and S Padfield 78 and R/up were S Buller and R Yeats 72, while the gross winners were G A reminder that men’s golf is on now Jones and S Tillamans 70 and R/ups P Elliot and J Sunday not Saturday this week—hurrah! Boyd 59. We would like to thank our very generous sponsors As for the Maisie Cusack Trophy, C Elliot won with Narembeen Roadhouse, B C Cusack Co, Total 38pts with J McGregor 37 R/up on a c/b from J Ag, Liberty Rural and Dyson Wool, Cusack. Narembeen Tyre Service, Motive Travel, The Goulds’ were on a roll with Jane and J Cusack Narembeen Newsagency, B & N Cole, Peel Golf, S winning the Ladies’ 4BBB combined stableford with Heather, Elders, Bernie Valance, Narembeen 70 pts and C Elliot and the remarkable, 89yr old, M Medical Centre, IGA, Glencore Grains, D&D Websdale on 67. Gross winners were M Romaior and Cabinets, Narembeen Hardware & Ag Supplies, M Miolini on 42 with R/up J Kay and J Shemeld on 38. Brownley Plumbing, Shakespeare Financial As you can see, a lot of the winners are old Solutions, G Fuller Gardening Service, Dunsborough “Narembeenites”, much to our immense satisfaction, Lakes Golf Club and Emerald Grain. as they continue to support us every year. We also had the usual happy mob from Dunsborough, Kondinin, Bruce Rock, Nokaning, Muckinbudin, Yearling, Hartfield, Munty, Busselton, Victoria (the Balls), Mandurah and Williams. We would sincerely like to thank the Cusack Family and all the Narembeen Traders for their great sponsorship. Also, the day wouldn’t be anywhere as good without the kitchen wenches, R Cole, E Bailey and H Copeman and the bar supremo’s B Bailey and R Quarrell who all were magnificent. On Sunday, a brave few, fronted up again to sort of play golf. S Padfield delighted in taking the winnings after 39pts and beat B Parsons on 37. Apparently he will get his throne back from Wayne who struggled after his big win on Sat. Other good scores were J Currie and M Toovey 35. The women played a 4BBB and the elder pairing of A Cowan and S Haunold flogged all the rest of us. V Teede and C Padfield were R/up on 39. We finished off with a clean-out tea “Golf giveth and golf taketh away. But it taketh away a hell of a lot more than it giveth” APOLOGY Please accept my sincere apology for my serious oversight in not providing Black & Gold Party Pies for afternoon tea last Wednesday. In hindsight I now realise that this was entirely unacceptable and I apologise unreservedly for my selfishness; it won’t happen again. and not surprisingly a few drinks to celebrate a very 28 The Fence Post 6 July 2016 FOR SALE L shaped seven seater lounge suite.
