It is time for the Fencepost to again thank the distributors – CRC, Roadhouse, Newsagent and
Post Office, for voluntarily distributing the magazine each week. We really appreciate their
help. We couldn’t do it without them.

Also thanks to Yvonne Treloar who each week collects the ‘left-overs’ and the money from
over-the-counter sales. She has been doing this for MANY YEARS.

Sympathy is extended to Andy Andrews and family on the passing of Lynda (Tiny) Andrews

little better about your day after reading.
Fire authorities in California found a corpse in a burnedout section of forest while assessing the damage done by a
forest fire. The deceased male was dressed in a full wet
suit, complete with scuba tanks on his back, flippers, and
face mask.
A postmortem test revealed that the man died not from
burns, but from massive internal injuries. Dental records
provided a positive identification. Investigators then set
about to determine how a fully clothed diver ended up in
the middle of a forest fire.

she whacked him with a handy plank of wood, breaking his

Updated requirements for swimming and spa pool safety barriers
In Western Australia, the design, construction and installation of private swimming and spa pools
and their safety barriers is subject to strict building requirements under the Building Regulations
2012 (the Regulations). Owners and occupiers also have ongoing legal obligations to maintain their
safety barriers at all times.
On 1 May 2016 the Regulations relating to private swimming and spa pools changed.
The Building Commission has updated the publication "Rules for Pools and Spas" to reflect the
safety barrier requirements that apply to private swimming and spa pools in Western Australia. This
edition replaces the previous 2012 edition.

SUCCESS…………….
Best: Cheetham, Sherwood, D.Gray, Newman, Dall
We live in a world that is success driven. Everyone
likes to be in front at the end but is that the only
way to gauge it? Is a man successful when he
comes to a new country and throws himself into a
crazy game? Or how about coming to a new town
and getting involved in the footy club? How do we
define success?
The Hawks lost again, by five points to a deserving
and hard running Nukarni side, the question is
however, were they unsuccessful? Is it
unsuccessful when a club legend like Ben Hunter
provides great direction for his teammates,
wonderful ball use and even more impressive ball
winning when his team needed it the most.
The Ressies started against the top of the table
Demons with a young and inexperienced side. The
two pronged attack of Clint Butler and Danny Gray
proved it would be a handful but it was the
delivery that would be the challenge. This delivery
was provided by a midfield that was dominated by
two blonde tyros. The first, Jesper Dall. Jesper has
only been in Australia for a short amount of time
but he is fast developing his skill in the indigenous
game. Against the Demons he was hard at it on his
wing and never went to ground. His work with the
ball was clam and complete and sent the Ressies
forward time and again.
Is it unsuccessful when Mike Mortimore returns
from a long term injury with a performance on the
last line of defence which is full of desperation
and commitment to the cause. Is it unsuccessful
when seventeen year old Mitchell Pollard wins
several contests, against men who are bigger and
quicker than he is, by focussing purely on the ball.
Is it unsuccessful when a playing coach of only
twent five years of age provides superior ball use
and shows wonderful audacity in his willingness to
take the game on through the middle of the
ground?
The answer to these questions is not for this
reporter to offer but for those of you in Hawks
Nation to decide for yourselves. Football is
however such a testing and tough game that while
a win on the scoreboard is what we are all after it
is simply unfair to use that is the only gauge of
success.
Jesper's blonde partner in crime was Jake
'Sunshine' Newman. Jake has only been in town
for a short amount of time and if not for an
argument with a skateboard would have played
more footy for the Hawks. On Sunday he was
dominant around the contest and running away
with it. This fast ball movement coupled with the Nukarni

Junior Hockey
It was a warm sunny day in Narembeen, July
16. It was a tough game but in the end we
won 9-0.
Team:
Sara and Samantha Nation, Tye and
Kade McLeish, Cobie Stirrat, Sheldon KuhneMunroe, Elijah Kerse, Sari Wilson, Breanna
In the first half we were passing the ball a bit Fitzgerald, Sophia Lopez, Goalie: Jordyn
to the other team but then in the second half McNally.
we started looking up to see where our team By Sara
was and passed to them. Our full backs were
good at clearing the ball which helped us out
a lot. The half backs did well at sticking on
their wing so it was harder for them to pass
out wide. Everyone else did well at their
position to help open the space up on the
field to go down and get a goal.
Our goal scorers were Samantha with 5,
Breanna with 2, Sara and Tye with 1.
We would like to thank Kade and Tye for
coming down and playing with us, they did a
great job.

He’s back! The king of the Cups returns.
The winner of the B C Cusack Cup is Wayne Gould
who seems to really rev himself up when a Cup is on
the line, having won several Traders Cups and now
two of B C’s. He won, with a score of 40pts, with R/

soooo lucky.
Last Wed the ladies played a stableford and the
winner with 37pt was C Currie. Well done Carol. R/up
on a c/b was J Cusack with 37pts too. We all worked
hard and worked up a great appetite knowing J

good without the kitchen wenches, R Cole, E Bailey

R Quarrell who all were magnificent.
On Sunday, a brave few, fronted up again to sort of
play golf. S Padfield delighted in taking the winnings
after 39pts and beat B Parsons on 37. Apparently he
will get his throne back from Wayne who struggled
after his big win on Sat. Other good scores were J

flogged all the rest of us. V Teede and C Padfield

SCHOOL HOLIDAY ACTIVITY—ARTS AND CRAFTS
The scene was set, the tables covered in plastic sheeting, paints and glue spread out and
hundreds of toilet rolls and 12 eager children gathered in anticipation ( 2 eager Adults as
well)
Our receptionist has a flair for creativity and this activity was her idea. With the music
pumping everyone set to create some wonderful crafts including cars, animals, photo
frames, rockets and tea light candle holders. The kids loved it and we are excited for the
next school holidays to see what else they can create!
Thank you once again Taylor Hooper for taking time out of your
break to help us, its very much appreciated.
