This plan is subject to change for future school years after 2014-2015. Students can skip the Grade 8 PARCC assessment, but must take all three high school assessments (i.e. Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II or Mathematics I, Mathematics II, Mathematics III). Students must commit to a pathway of high school assessments (i.e. Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II or Mathematics I, Mathematics II, Mathematics III). Interchanging pathways jeopardizes growth scores for school accountability and educator effectiveness. Students that take Intermediate Algebra in 11th grade will take the Algebra II PARCC assessment, since current SVVSD high school graduation requirements for mathematics will have been met with successful completion of Intermediate Algebra. Students have one opportunity to retake one of the high school assessments (ex: students that fail and repeat Algebra 1 or Intermediate Algebra students in 11th grade that take Algebra 2 in 12th grade). 4 From Colorado Department of Education: Mathematics Assessment Options for 2014-2015 The following table displays the possible PARCC mathematics assessments students may take, based on their current grade, in school year 2014-2015. Districts will determine (on an individual basis) which of the options is most appropriate for students to take based on alignment with the content of their instruction. Districts retain control over curricular and course decisions. Except as noted, all students in the identified grades must take one of the assessments listed. These students may be engaged in advanced math instruction and take advanced placement or international baccalaureate exams. Algebra II* Mathematics III* No state assessment for those not enrolled in a math course addressing 12 content covered in the above assessments. These students may be engaged in advanced math instruction and taking advanced placement or international baccalaureate exams.** *These assessments will be comprehensive. Although concentrating on the content reflected in their names, other content considered critical to achieving a college and career ready determination will be included. **Future years: No state assessment for those having completed instruction in the high school mathematics standards, typically through an Algebra II or Integrated III course in a prior year. These students may be engaged in advanced math instruction and take advanced placement or international baccalaureate exams. 5
