Lab Objectives
The following laboratory objectives will be carried out on the day of the lab. Data collected
during the lab may need to be analyzed at home, depending on how long it takes to complete
these lab objectives. Regardless, these objectives should be completed prior to next week’s lab
as they may covered in a lab quiz and are required to be recorded into your lab notebook.
Additionally, any data collected during the lab should be recorded into your lab notebook.
BRING YOUR TEXTBOOK TO LAB TODAY.
Exercise 7.1
1. Recognize and model interphase and the stages of mitosis (as stated in the procedure) using
the beads in this experiment. You will have to recognize stages of mitosis and meiosis from
bead simulations on the practical.
Exercise 7.2
2. Distinguish between interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase/cytokinesis
in onion root tip cells and/or white fish blastula. (View on 40X.)
3. Draw each stage in your lab notebook.
Exercise 7.4
4. Recognize and model interphase and the stages of meiosis I and II (as stated in the
procedure) using the beads in this experiment. You will have to recognize stages of mitosis and
meiosis from bead simulations on the practical.
