PRESS RELEASE DIXY DONATES 5 TONS OF PRODUCTS TO HELP Moscow, Russian Federation, 8 December, 2016 DIXY chain has summarized the results of the initiative aimed at collecting products to help lowincome and multi-child families as part of the Caring Neighbors program in support of the #GivingTuesday movement. Approximately 5 tons of food products were collected during the seven days of the initiative. The products were assembled into food kits and handed over to Rus’ Provision Foundation to be distributed to those in need. As part of the #GivingTuesday, DIXY organized a charity marathon featuring several events for office and store employees and customers. During seven days, customers of twenty neighborhood stores could donate non-perishable food products, as well as household items and personal hygiene products. Moscow office employees actively joined the initiative, acting as volunteers for the first time ever. Employees also had an opportunity to donate food products, with the collection organized in Moscow and Saint Petersburg offices. The Company also implemented the Kind Mail project in partnership with Starost’ v Radost’ (“Happy Old Age”) Charity Foundation. Several hundred New Year cards for lonely elderly people living at the Vyshny Volochyok care facility were sent from our stores in all regions and units of the Company. The #GivingTuesday marathon ended with a charity fair joined by a number of NPOs. It featured handcrafted gifts, cards, toys and New Year decorations made by charity foundations’ wards and volunteers. “We organized the program in a way to enable every employee to participate, and not necessarily by means of monetary donations – personal time or words of support are a contribution just as valuable. Our objective was not only to collect products, but also at to promote the volunteering culture among our employees. And DIXY customers’ feedback and active engagement inspired us to continue the program at Victoria supermarkets as well: they are going to hold the product donation initiative from December 16 till 18,” says Ekaterina Kumanina, Corporate and External Communications Director of DIXY Group.
