Operation Graduation
Calling all senior parents - We need you!
Operation GraduationOperation
Graduation is a party for the seniors
after graduation. The seniors come to
Incredible Pizza at 10:30PM to party
with their classmates all through the
night! We give out prizes like
computers, TVs, gift cards, and much
more. It takes parent volunteers to
help coordinate this event and help
raise money. CHS has not been able
to have this event in a few years and
we hope to revive this tradition with
your help!
What can you do?
1. You can use this letterhttps://goo.gl/p5LjRn to solicit
donations from area businesses. This
can be used as a tax deduction! To
date, we have received donations from

Lodge Motel and Suites, Steele Page
and Madeley, Buckalew, Polar Rig, and
Chase Pest Control.

Parents of Seniors, please plan to attend!
Noteworthy:
th
On December 7 , we officially
celebrate the 75th anniversary of
our school song:
Stand for the Gold and White.
On the eve of World War II, Band
Director Douglas Frye deeply moved by
the attack on Pearl Harbor and
reflecting on his and other's patriotism,
used the hymn: “Hear ye the Master’s
Call, give me thy best,” as part of his
composition of the now classic school
song, “Stand for the Gold and White.”
On Friday, Nov. 11, our Court Systems
and Practices class went to the
University of Houston Law Center for
the "Law Day" Conference. They took
a tour of the law school and met with
alumni and current law students. They
also attended a mock law class. The
purpose of the trip was to understand
the many uses of a law degree, the
requirements to enter law school, and
what it takes to perform well in law
school.

CHS Food Pantry
Cosmetology:
Students and teacher Judith Skelton
delivered non perishable items to the
CHS Campus Pantry. Items were
collected in a week-long effort to help
support those of our students (and their
families) who are in need of a 'Hand
Up' over the Thanksgiving holiday. 37
Families registered with Ms. Rowe at
the Communities in Schools office, to
request a box. Thanks to all those who
gave so freely, we will be able to help
each of those families and make their
upcoming holiday a bit less stressful.
Once again, thank you to all the
students, families and staff involved in
making this event successful.

Scholarship Winners!!!
"Yo soy" means "I am" in Spanish
class. In Spanish 1 this month we
learned how to describe ourselves and
wrote a book full of thoughts about the
way we see ourselves, the way our
families view us and about the way our
friends view us. This project gave us
the opportunity to reflect on both our
outward appearances as well as what
we keep closest to our hearts. This
student's project says "I like to go to
school. I am studious." The author also
included illustrations pertaining to the
things that are important to her.
Six of our outstanding seniors attended
the Conroe Noon Lions Club Luncheon
on November 30th. Three students
were chosen for 1st, Andrew “Blake”
Frosch, 2nd, Iseah Mitchell and 3rd
place, Landon Risha. Each of these
students will receive a $1,000
scholarship. The 1st place winner,
Blake, will go on to compete at the
district level with a chance to win an
additional $1,000. We are very proud
of their accomplishments!

Commented [PRC1]:
In 2015, the My Person Foundation (MPF) was created in response to the recent rise in tragic events within our community
in an effort to combat teen suicide and bullying, while raising awareness of various aspects of mental health. MPF is a CISD
affiliated high school club that started at Conroe High School Spring of 2016. If your child is struggling with bullying, stress,
anxiety, depression, self-image or realizing their self-worth, MPF can help.
Our all-inclusive female and male groups known as the SisterhoodSQUAD and BROtherhoodBOND operate within CISD.
Both groups are led by passionate, relatable and young professionals, referred to as mentors, who actively promote a safe
environment to engage in healthy communication surrounding a variety of topics and challenges facing the students each
day. Our mentors receive extensive training on a variety of important topics from CISD faculty and staff, counselors, and
community organizations who work directly with our students. This training enables our diverse group of mentors to
facilitate the available resources in our community to the needs of our students. Through the participation of mentors, we
are able to share our message of S.P.I.R.I.T. (Support, Protect, Inspire, Respect, Include, and Trust) to the youth in our
community. We find it is vital to utilize all social media outlets to consistently communicate and promote to our students
the importance of self-worth and self-acceptance.
Our Mission Statement:
To help students understand their value and support their journey to self-acceptance
To help instill and guide students to acknowledging their self-worth
To provide students with a safe and healthy environment for peer-to-peer communication
To guide students in creating a kind, positive and accepting environment within their school
To encourage an open dialogue between students and highly respected community professionals regarding
sensitive topics, questions, problems and concerns commonly encountered by teens
To promote the importance of supporting and protecting one another from negative influences
To educate students of the importance of maintaining healthy, respectful and courteous personal and social media
relationships
To serve as a liaison between CISD schools and community professionals to help meet the needs of our students
