iENA 2015 – The World of Ideas,
Inventions and New Products
The iENA, leading International Trade Fair “Ideas –
Inventions – New Products", is leading for marketing
inventions and new product ideas from all around the world.
From October 29 to November 1, 2015, inventors and
organizations from 36 countries present about 700
inventions. The spectrum ranges from high-tech problem
solutions up to smart ideas for everyday use. This year,
Poland represents a special focal point as partner to iENA
2015. At two days (October 31 and November 1), iENA will be
accompanied by the START trade fair for founding
companies, financing, succession and franchising.
Nuremberg – iENA invites visitors for the 67th time to the
Nuremberg Exhibition Center. From October 29 to November 1,
2015, inventors from 36 countries will be presenting about 700
inventions – from high-tech to low-tech. Yet again, many
developers and inventors from Germany will participate as well
as many young inventors, who will prove the innovation potential
of Germany. iENA is considered to be one of most significant
sector events for inventors around the globe. Practical inventions
for everyday use – such as the rolling suitcase, childproof socket
outlet and retractable dog leash – were first presented at iENA.
From Angola to Taiwan – high degree of internationality at
iENA
iENA 2015 will host inventors, associations and organizations
from 36 countries, such as Italy, Libya, Moldova, Turkey,
Philippines and the US. 16 joint national contributions will be
2
represented at this year's iENA. These represent inventors from
Egypt, Angola, Bosnia-Herzegovina, China, Germany, Iran, the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Korea, Croatia, Malaysia, Austria,
Poland, Russia, Spain, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
This year, special new and exciting ideas are also coming from
Poland – partner of iENA 2015.
Poland – partner of iENA 2015
The Department for Trade and Investments of the Polish
Embassy in Berlin will present inventions and innovative solutions
at iENA from scientific research institutes, innovative companies
and individual researchers from Poland. The country is enjoying
an increasing number of companies getting involved in research
and development – as well as growing investment from
international companies. Some of the advantages that Poland
has to offer include the well-established scientific facilities,
political stability and a good economic environment. The iENA
trade fair is a fixed date in the exhibition calendars of Polish
research and development engineers.
From the idea to success in the market
iENA gives inventors the opportunity of intensively exchanging
experience between one another, therefore making it an
information hub. The main focus of iENA is to successfully
market inventions, which is reflected in the fact that iENA has
already helped many inventors successfully launch their
inventions into the market. At iENA, inventors get to rub
shoulders with investors, manufacturers, representatives from the
trades as well as consulting offices and international evaluation
companies who are searching for new product ideas.
Numerous products, which have become indispensable in our
modern routine, clearly demonstrate the significance of iENA
when it comes to marketing inventions. In fact, several iENA
ideas have turned out to be best sellers. These include the rolling
suitcase, childproof socket outlet, retractable ski pass holder, the
retractable dog leash, in-line skates and skateboards, water
wings ("swimmies") for children, curtain hooks with gliders,
thermally insulating rescue blanket and the folding bicycle – to
name just a few.

Innovative technical ideas at the iENA Innovation Seminar
and the iENA-START Symposium
The technical highlight of iENA is the iENA Innovation Seminar
on the topic "Strategies of innovation management – generating
and implementing new products and processes". The seminar will
take place on October 30. In addition to renowned specialists
from colleges, industrial and trade associations as well as the
German Patent and Trade Mark Office, representatives from wellknown companies will also participate in the panel discussion at
the iENA Innovation Seminar. The iENA-START Symposium on
October 31 continues on with the iENA Innovation Seminar with
the topic "With the idea to success – invent and become an
entrepreneur".
Awards for inventions presented at iENA
Every year iENA awards gold, silver and bronze medals for
outstanding inventions. An independent, international trade jury
selects the winners: 25 representatives from industry and science
assess the approximately 700 inventions shown at iENA. The
medals will be handed over to the winners in a festive spirit in the
categories "Free invention", "Youth invention" and "University
invention" on Saturday, October 31 at iENA.
Innovations and inventions from Germany
In addition to international participation and presentations at the
exhibition, since last year, iENA has placed increasing emphasis
on "Innovation from Germany", and offers a favorably-priced
option for German inventors to participate in the trade fair. With
the "Innovation from Germany" joint booth, iENA documents that
technical developments in Germany are not just created in
development and research departments of large companies. The
joint presentation demonstrates the technically creative potential
of independent inventors in Germany. Independent inventors play
an essential role in the German economy with their solutions to
problems and new product ideas. However, frequently there is a
lack of know-how when it comes to marketing as well as basic
financial skill sets. This is the reason that IENA provides these
inventors with the opportunity of presenting themselves and their
innovations. After the good premiere last year, the "Innovation
from Germany" iENA 2015 will again host the joint booth in a
revised form.
The collective presentation of the Allgäu/Oberschwaben
inventors club is also at iENA for the first time. The ERiNET
4
research institute for promoting inventors, innovations and
network management – as well as the PIAGET research
association – will present research ideas from Germany.
Protecting your inventions – German Patent and Trade Mark
Office
Protecting intellectual property plays a significant role in today's
knowledge society. The risk of copying and counterfeit is very
high. This is why at iENA, German and foreign associations and
organizations involved with inventions provide support on the
topic of patent rights, financing and professionally marketing
inventions.
The German Patent and Trade Mark Office will have their own
large information and support booth at iENA. Independent
inventors as well as inventors working for companies will be able
to obtain in-depth support. In addition to the German Patent and
Trade Mark Office, the AGEPI State Agency on Intellectual
Property of the Republic Moldova, the Egyptian Patent Office, the
Patent Office of the Republic Poland, the World Intellectual
Property Organization (WIPO), the Ilmenau University of
Technology with the PATON Landespatentzentrum Thüringen as
well as the TÜV Rheinland Consulting GmbH will also provide
information on patent rights in the trades.
Supporting and promoting inventors
The Steinbeis-Transferzentrum Infothek supports companies and
inventors on the topic of patent rights – and also offers help on
the topics of costs, market and technology. At iENA, the
Steinbeis-Transferzentrum Infothek will show the best inventions
of past years.
For the 12th time in a row now, the Artur Fischer Prize for
inventors will be represented at iENA, and will focus on exciting
and innovative inventions from Baden-Wuerttemberg.
National and international inventors associations and initiatives,
for example the International Federation of Inventors'
Associations (IFIA) and the Querdenker Stiftung, will boost their
exhibition activities this year. Furthermore, additional
associations at iENA, for example the Deutsche Erfinderverband
e.V., the Deutsche Erfinderring e.V. (DEV), the Österreichische
Innovatoren-, Patentinhaber- und Erfinderverband (OPEV), the
European Inventors Association AEI as well as other German
5
and foreign associations and organizations involved with
inventions will be there to support inventors.
The IFIA connects more than 100 member associations spread
over five continents. IFIA supports inventors around the globe to
the same extent. The association is working hard to improve the
culture for inventions and innovations by boosting the status of
inventors at national and international levels – as well as
improving the public perception of inventors in society.
In addition to focusing on promoting creative skill sets and
capabilities, the Initiative Querdenker will also focus on
networking: Querdenker helps inventors when forming inventor
clubs, independent of any particular organization, and provides
them with a contact forum at the exhibition. Youths can learn
from their peers at workshops and presentations – and teachers
obtain tips on how to support students when coming up with
creative ideas.
Young inventors at iENA
iENA offers young inventors a well-respected platform to present
their latest ideas to an international trade public. Every year,
youths and students surprise everybody with their creativity and
ideas. Students from the Maristengymnasiums in Fürstenzell will
present their best work from their inventor studies, and trainees
from Pfleiderer, Europoles and RAIL.ONE will present their new
product developments at iENA. This year, the "Jugend forscht"
initiative will celebrate its 50th anniversary. Since 1996, "Jugend
forscht" winners have presented their projects at iENA. Seven
young inventors will also be represented this year at the
Nuremberg Exhibition Center.
Additional initiatives and organizations to promote ideas and
inventions from youths will also be at iENA 2015. For example,
the KIT-Initiative, mikromakro, Vision-Ing21, Querdenker,
Virtuelle Hochschule Bayern and the Hochschule Coburg with
their design and product development group.
10,000 Euro special prize for young inventors
This year, the non-profit Peter Jochimsen Stiftung from
Eckernförde will be promoting young inventors and researchers
at iENA. With prize money of 10,000 euros for the three best
young inventors, Peter Jochimsen supports young people with
creative ideas and innovations, and gives them valuable support
when embarking on a future career as researcher and inventor.

Launching inventions into the market with PSI
iENA has been cooperating with the leading European trade fair
for promotional articles – PSI in Düsseldorf – since 2011.
Through this collaboration, inventions and new product ideas,
which have the potential of becoming promotional articles, are
promoted and support is given to establish themselves in the
promotional article sector. Every year, suitable iENA inventions
are presented at the PSI in Düsseldorf. The next PSI will take
place between January 13 and 15, 2016.
The Greenhouse of Ideas is the collaboration between iENA, PSI
and the INNOVATIONS-FORUM. Ideas, investment capital and
implementers are brought together. There are three categories –
"Idea looking for company", "Idea looking for investment capital"
and "Company looking for an idea".

iENA 2015 – discover inventors and their world
iENA takes place from October 29 to November 1, 2015 in Hall
12 of the Nuremberg Exhibition Center. A high percentage of the
inventions presented will be celebrating their premiere at iENA.
This is not only interesting for companies, scouts, investors and
product development engineers, but also for the general public,
where there is the opportunity to be fascinated by new product
solutions along with innovative ideas at iENA. On October 31 and
November 1, iENA will also open its doors to the visitors of the
Consumenta consumer fair, which is running in parallel. This will
give inventors the opportunity of conducting some pretests with
consumers. On October 29 and 30, iENA is exclusively reserved
for trade visitors. Additional information available at www.iena.de.
